And the Estonian "excursion" is generally beyond praise: it's even amazing how so many sights fit in such a small country. Finally, in the summer you can sunbathe, swim, and at the same time improve your health.

All Estonia is one big resort: hotels and sanatoriums grow wherever there are suitable conditions. Fans of a calm and secluded holiday will be able to have a good rest on the islands, as well as on farms and farms in the Estonian "outback". Winters are most often mild and snowy, but the local weather has seven Fridays a week: clear sunshine can be abruptly replaced by gusty winds and prickly rain. Most of the precipitation falls in autumn, but an umbrella will come in handy at the end of August. Spring is gray and cool, summer is warm, but not stuffy (winds from the Baltic Sea save from the heat).

Officially, the swimming season lasts from June to August, but it is more comfortable to swim from mid-July: shallow coastal waters warm up to +20...+25 °C by this time.

All this will be needed at customs at the airport: unpacked goods will be inspected, the Tax free check will be stamped, and at the Global Blue office they will issue the required amount in cash or make a bank transfer.

Direct flights from Moscow are carried out only by Aeroflot, departure from Sheremetyevo, you have to spend 1 hour 40 minutes in the air. To Estonia by car

You can also get to Estonia by car (a little less than 8 hours drive from St. Petersburg) through the checkpoints of Narva, Pechora and Luhamaa. However, it should be borne in mind that there may be a large queue at the border.

Information about border checkpoints: Pärnu is located at the same distance from the checkpoint of Narva and Kunichnaya Gora (which is near Pskov), but the queue is traditionally much shorter at Kunicnaya Gora. But on the way back, you can book a place in the queue on the GoSwift website. Reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance. Further, the procedure is simple - drive up to Narva, go to the "sump" (turn right immediately after the first gas station at the entrance to the city, and look for a small sign on the left hand on a concrete fence). As soon as the reservation number is displayed, go to the window, go through the necessary procedures and after that go directly to the checkpoint. Do not forget to take out Green Card insurance in advance.

Transport

The main means of transportation between Estonian cities is the train. The railway network is operated by Elron (off. site), the rolling stock has recently been updated: the seats are now soft, there are blackout curtains on the windows, Wi-Fi is available in the cars. Tickets are sold at the box office and online, and electronic tickets can not be printed out: special machines read them directly from the display.

A trip from the capital to Tartu will cost from 10.50 EUR, to Narva - from 11.40 EUR.

Buses serve as an alternative to trains: intercity transport strictly follows the schedule and stops in the centers of all settlements. The largest carriers are Sebe, Lux Express (off site), Simple Express (off site). The cost of a trip from Tallinn to Pärnu is 6-9 EUR, to Haapsalu - 8 EUR.

Ferries run between the numerous Estonian islands. Ticket price - from 3-4 EUR depending on the distance, the standard surcharge for a car is 10 EUR.

Public transport within cities

Buses run in most Estonian cities, and there are also trolleybuses and trams in the capital. Tickets are sold at kiosks (1 EUR) and from drivers (2 EUR), it is more profitable to purchase reusable electronic cards (from 3 EUR) and replenish them with the required amount. By the way, Tallinners themselves use public transport absolutely free.

Tourists rarely need taxis in Estonia: most of the sights are located within walking distance from each other. However, you can always catch a car on the street or call by phone, the average landing fee is 2 EUR, for each km - 0.50-1 EUR, at night - twice as expensive.

Bicycles are rented in specialized salons and large hotels. The 1st hour of rental costs from 1.60 EUR, each subsequent hour - from 1.40 EUR, a day - from 10 EUR (plus a mandatory deposit - 100 EUR). The trip will turn out to be as rich as possible if you take a brochure with detailed cycling routes to the travel agency.

Rent a Car

If traveling around Estonia is not limited to Tallinn, car rental is a very good solution. In the capital, the old center is given over to pedestrians, the sights are not far from each other. But beyond its borders - complete freedom of movement: the roads are good, cars are delivered to large islands by ferries.

Rental offices are located at the airport and big cities, the most popular are Alamo, Inter Rent, addCar, Prime Car Rent. Cars are rented to drivers over 19 years old with insurance and international driving license valid for more than a year. Some companies set additional rates for customers under the age of 25. In addition to the rental fee, you will need to pay a deposit (about 450 EUR) from a bank card. The cost of renting a standard car - from 35 EUR, station wagon - from 40 EUR, premium model or SUV - from 70 EUR per day. Gasoline costs 1.10-1.20 EUR per liter, when you return the car you will have to fill up a full tank.

Fines for traffic violations are severe: from 70 EUR for talking on a mobile phone to 1200 EUR for speeding or drunk driving.

Traffic jams happen only in the capital, where it is most difficult to find a parking space. Most parking lots in the centers of large cities are paid, equipped with parking meters. You can leave a car for an hour for 0.60-5 EUR, depending on the area.

Communication and Wi-Fi

Using Estonian SIM cards is quite profitable. Key market players mobile communications- Tele2, EMT and Elisa, it is most convenient for tourists to connect the so-called conversational "sim cards" (konekaart), which require no special formalities to activate. They are sold at gas stations, in supermarkets and kiosks of the R-kiosk network and cost from 2-3 EUR. If desired, you can pick up an additional package with Internet traffic for 4-10 EUR.

Calls to your homeland with an EMT operator will cost 0.50 EUR per minute, Tele2 has a special tariff "Russia" for 5 EUR with 50 minutes of calls included during the month.

Payphones are no longer found on the streets of Estonian cities: they were eliminated as unnecessary back in 2010. But there are no problems with the Internet: there is unlimited free Wi-Fi at the airport, restaurants, hotels and many public places in large cities and resorts.

Money

The monetary unit of the country is the Euro (EUR), in 1 euro there are 100 cents. Current exchange rate: 1 EUR = 68.81 RUB.

It is best to go to Estonia with the euro in your pocket: rubles are changed here, but the exchange rate is not very attractive. Dollars are accepted at all banks and exchange offices Eurex, Tavid and Monex, located everywhere: at the airport, hotels, large shopping malls, at railway stations. The most favorable rates are usually in banks, many exchangers charge a commission for transactions.

Tipping is a voluntary matter: you can always thank an attentive waiter with 5-10% of the bill, but no one will condemn you for paying strictly according to the check.

Estonian banks are open on weekdays from 9:00 to 18:00, exchange offices usually work longer. Some financial institutions are open on Saturdays (until lunch), but Sunday is a day off everywhere. Credit cards of common payment systems are accepted both in large stores and in small souvenir shops. There are ATMs even in the outback, it is safe to use them: credit card fraud is rare in Estonia.

Estonia- a large Baltic state, washed by the waters of the cool Baltic Sea. Few of our tourists have even heard of the wonderful sea and spa resorts in Estonia, for the most part they are residents of the Russian north-west, more precisely St. Petersburg, who often go there to relax. Today we decided to correct such an oversight and talk about the magnificent Estonian resorts of the Baltic and about great vacation, which awaits you on them, by the way, about a very inexpensive, which is important!

In the preface it should be said that Estonia is a country of beautiful nature and excellent ecology. The length of the Estonian coastline in the Baltic - about four thousand kilometers, and this country also owns one and a half thousand small islands, most of which are also inhabited and offer wonderful holiday and spa treatments. There are no less equipped sanatoriums and boarding houses, no worse than in the mainland. The Baltic Sea is not very hot, because the temperature in it never exceeds twenty-three degrees, while the air warms up to twenty-eight degrees on the warmest days, but more often it is the standard twenty-five degrees. But the beaches of the Estonian resorts of the Baltic Sea are like a selection: with sand dazzling like snow, clean and very soft, well-groomed and having everything you need, without which a comfortable rest of tourists is impossible. It is worth noting that it is almost always windy here, and swimming is most pleasant in July or August, when the water warms up to the maximum. For those who are sea vacation wants to combine with the excursion program, which is very extensive here, it is worth going to Estonia from May to September inclusive. Let's finally move on to the resorts themselves.

Resort Sillamäe

A wonderful town, standing on the shores of the beautiful Gulf of Finland, just one hundred and eighty kilometers from the Estonian capital and one hundred and seventy kilometers from Russian city St. Petersburg. It originated in the sixteenth century, formed by the Levonian Order. In the nineteenth century, representatives of the Russian intelligentsia appreciated its nature and beaches, and the influx of tourists to Sillamäe was ensured. But today, the city is positioned more as an industrial center and port, so tourists visiting it to relax on the sea have significantly decreased, although some come attracted by low prices.

There is only one beach here, it is not wide, but rather long. Its surface is sandy and pebbly, sometimes the pebbles are quite large, so you have to put on beach shoes so as not to damage your feet. There are a couple of changing rooms on the beach.

In Sillamäe, there are a lot of attractions concentrated in the old part of the city, in the form of interesting buildings of the Middle Ages and Soviet times, by the way, the city is called the “capital of the Stalinist Empire style”. There is: a beautiful city hall; modernist Catholic Church, Orthodox Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God; visit the Museum of Local Lore; Marine Park, take a walk along Primorsky Boulevard. Football fans can visit the local stadium of the Estonian team Kalev Sillamäe. From the natural corners of the resort, we recommend visiting: Langevoja Waterfall, the height of which varies from one and a half to four meters; and the Ukuoru waterfall. To be honest, walking around this city, there is a feeling of returning to the eighties of the Soviet Union.

Resort Narva-Jõesuu (Ust-Narva)

Dacha suburb of the city of Narva, positioned as resort place. A town with a history dating back to the sixteenth century, after its foundation by the Livonians, when fishing was concentrated here. In the nineteenth century, the city of Hungerburg (old name), which belonged to the Livonian Order, had already become popular resort Baltic Sea, which was incredibly prestigious to visit. The first spa clinic was built here in 1876. Since those ancient times, there are almost no ancient architectural sights left, except for the Kursaal, built in 1912 in the Main Park, but now it needs urgent restoration. During the years of the Union, our tourists loved to relax in the Ust-Narva resort, but in 1992 Russia and Estonia introduced a visa regime, and the popularity of the Baltic resort fell sharply, and began to slowly grow only in 2007. In the town, it is worth visiting the interesting Ethnographic Museum to learn about life, history, and see unique exhibits related to this.

The beach of the Narva-Jõesuu resort is very large, covered with good, white sand, clean, well-groomed, it is separated from the city buildings by a strip of beautiful pine trees, among which there are equipped picnic areas. The beach has areas for sports and games. Here you will find a pleasant family seaside vacation in silence, because there are few tourists here, but there are plenty of places. It is worth recalling that the water of the Baltic here is cool, and in summer it is warmed up to only eighteen degrees.

Resort Toila

The favorite beach town of Estonians, who call this small seaside village "Estonia's Best Ozone Resort" due to the cleanliness and freshness of the local air. There are many health resorts and sanatoriums in Toila, which stands by the Gulf of Finland and on the Pyhajõgi River; highly qualified and inexpensive, within the framework of the European Union, medical and rehabilitation assistance is denied there. In local spa hotels, boarding houses you will be given competent medical advice, they will conduct examinations, prescribe a course of treatment and preventive procedures.

Toila Beach is unique, it is covered with flat dolomite stones and turns into a narrow sandy strip near the water. The path to it goes through the local park Oru. There are volleyball courts, a children's area for games with trampolines. At the peak of the high season, the Sadamakõrts tavern and the Kongo bar open.

Of the attractions, the Toila-Oru Park was already mentioned, designed by the famous landscape designer Georg Friedrich Kufaldt in the nineteenth century by order of the merchant Eliseev, where about three hundred shrubs, trees brought from different parts of our planet grow, there are ponds, a rock garden, a rose garden, " singing field" - a venue for folklore folk festivals with songs and dances, attracting many curious travelers. Used to be in the middle of the park magnificent palace Eliseev, but during the war it was so badly damaged that it was impractical to restore it. Still, while relaxing here, tourists must visit Toila thermal baths, they include: infrared, steam, salt baths and an unusual wooden bath on the roof. On the territory of the term there are solariums for getting a tan, heated benches, a jacuzzi.

Resort Nyva

This small town is a virgin corner of Estonian nature, attracting eco-tourists with its pristine beauty, endless lingonberry, blueberry and mushroom meadows, in the middle of magnificent pine forests, wonderful sandy beaches and opportunities for diving, surfing, fishing, cycling, watching migratory birds .

The local beach of Peraküla is famous for its “singing sand”, which makes a melodic sound when the wind gusts. There are also five-meter dunes here. And adjacent to the beach pine forest there is a well-equipped campsite for tourists in cars. There is a parking lot for two hundred cars, food stalls and a volleyball court are open in the summer. The sea is ideal for surfing, it is incredibly clear, with visibility of tens of meters. The air at the resort is very fresh, it is saturated with phytoncides of coniferous trees, so it is good to relax here for people with problems of ENT organs and breathing. There are no lifeguards on Nyva beach, be careful in gloomy windy weather when high waves rise in the Baltic.

Haapsalu resort

The balneological clinics of the Haapsalu resort have become famous beyond the borders of Estonia.

This city, as a resort, was appreciated by the Russian intelligentsia at the beginning of the last century, but it has a longer history, lost in the eleventh century. In the thirteenth century, Haapsalu was chosen as the location of his residence by the Bishop of Osel-Vik, and in the eighteenth century, our Tsar Peter often visited the city. It is really stunningly beautiful and is often called the “Northern Venice of Estonia”, because it stands on a peninsula surrounded by sea waters. The city of Haapsalu is located a hundred kilometers from Tallinn, the capital's residents regularly go here to relax, be treated, considering it the best sea, climatic, mud resort in Estonia.

The water in July-August is warmed up to twenty-two degrees, the air temperature is the same, but it often rains here, so the weather is not always lucky. The most visited beach of the Haapsalu resort is "African", it is free and sandy. But not because of its snow-white sand, such a name came, but because of the deposits of local therapeutic mud, rubbing which, tourists become like dark-skinned inhabitants of a hot continent. And this mud helps with many different diseases.

There are a lot of places of interest in the city of Haapsalu. Tourists must visit historical part cities are concentrated there: ancient streets with old wooden houses, the most beautiful Town Hall, the Kursaal restaurant on the waterfront, with artsy carved wood elements, built in the nineteenth century.
