September - and again chestnut. Children come home with pockets full of his fruits. I envy them a little, I also want to walk around the park looking for chestnuts, admiring their color. Harvest fruits that are cool and slightly damp to the touch. I can not resist, I raise one, it will be with me in memory of the September sunny days.
October. For the second month now, autumn has been playing with colors, blooming the Prague gardens in their favorite colors. Yellow, brown, dark brown and purplish red. Initially, the night from April 30 to May 1 was considered magical and was called Walpurgis. People in ancient times believed that it was at this time that witches flock to the annual Sabbat. But after protracted inquisitorial processes, the ancient pagan holiday of honoring magic turned into a night of burning witches. These are some interesting metamorphoses. Of course, today Walpurgis Night is not associated with the chanting of evil spirits. Rather, it is a merry celebration of the arrival of spring. On this day, it is customary to jump over the fire to cleanse from evil, or simply throw notes into the fire with your shortcomings that interfere with life. Noisy festivities take place all night long in the city and everywhere you can see witches and sorceresses dressed up in costumes. They gradually flock towards the top of the Petrin Hill to perform a ritual burning in Petrin Hill Park.
After all the witches, or at least their effigies, are burned at the stake in the Czech capital on the night of May 1, a new day comes. And it is called the Day of Labor, Spring and Lovers. On this day, according to the Czech tradition, all lovers must kiss under the cherry tree. This event, pleasant in all respects, symbolizes a long union and unfading love.
By the way, on the same Petřín hill, among various trees, cherries also grow. Therefore, after the stormy Walpurgis Night on Petrin, a truly heavenly time comes.
On May 2 and 3, Prague hosts a major sporting event - Volkswagen Marathon Weekend 2015. The start and finish of the prestigious marathon will take place on the Old Town Square. Runners from all over the world will be supported throughout the distance not only by citizens of Prague and guests of the capital, but also by more than 20 musical groups.
