Nissi Beach is one of the most popular and crowded beaches of the Cypriot resort of Ayia Napa, located about 3 kilometers from the city center in a picturesque bay mediterranean sea.

This large and beautiful beach got its name from a small remarkable island 50 meters from the shore, connected to it by a narrow sandy spit (“island” is pronounced “nissi” in Greek).

Nissi Beach is the owner of the prestigious international Blue Flag award, which guarantees that the beach meets the highest standards of quality, service and safety.

Entrance to Nissi Beach is free and open to everyone. The distinctive features of this popular beach include white sand, well-developed infrastructure and incendiary parties throughout the summer.

Hotels near Nissi Beach

The choice of housing near Nissi Beach is quite large - from luxurious business-class hotels to simpler options - villas or apartments.

The most comfortable and expensive hotels are located on the first line, the most famous of which is the four-star Nissi Beach Resort. This hotel, in addition to rooms in the central building, offers accommodation in bungalows, standing in close proximity to the sea and having their own deck chairs on the grass. The second closest hotel to the beach is Vassos Nissi Plage Hotel 4*. It also, like the Nissi Beach Resort, has a fairly large territory of its own, swimming pools, an entertainment program, and a buffet.

Despite the rather high cost, the demand for rooms in these hotels is high and often there are no free places left by the beginning of the beach season.

Across the road, Nissi Avenue, running along the beach, you can find more accommodation options. Within a 3-10 minute walk to Nissi Beach are:

  • Atlantica Aeneas Resort (4 stars);
  • Nissi Park Hotel(3 stars);
  • Christofinia Hotel (3 stars);
  • Napasol boutique hotel (3 stars);
  • Nissiana Hotel (3 stars).

The cost of rooms in most of them is lower than in first-line hotels, but the level of service is not inferior.

Beach feature

Nissi Beach is located in the eastern part of Nissi Bay, and the western part is occupied by the equally beautiful Nissi Bay beach. But there is no separating border between the two beaches, one immediately passes into the other.

The length of the beach is about 600 meters, and the width varies from 20 to 40 meters.

Nissi Beach is covered with fine snow-white (imported) sand, pleasant to the touch and comfortable for walking on it even barefoot. Sea bottom here it is also sandy, the water is clear with a turquoise hue. The entry into the water is gentle, the depth increases gradually, and due to being in a bay protected from the wind, there are almost never waves on the beach. All this makes the beach attractive and safe for families with small children.

From the western part of the beach, a sandy isthmus goes into the sea, connecting the coast with a small island. Depending on the tides, the isthmus can either go under water or appear. The island has a flat part and a rocky hill, which is often used by extreme sports enthusiasts for jumping into the sea from a cliff. The island offers a great view, many tourists come here at dawn or sunset to take pictures. Since the surface of the island is rocky, it is better to bring shoes with you to walk on it.

Among the shortcomings of the beach, the appearance of algae in the second half of summer can be noted. Beach staff monitor this and constantly clean them with a special net, but this is not enough. In this case, you have to look for areas of the coast where algae is the least.

As a rule, there are quite a lot of people on the beach, however, due to its spaciousness, you can usually still find a cozy place to stay. For those who prefer a more relaxing holiday, it is better to come to Nissi Beach from the very early morning, since after 10:00 - 11:00 the number of people here increases significantly.

Seasonality of rest

These two months are the time of the greatest influx of tourists, and first of all those who come to Nissi Beach for entertainment and popular night parties.

In September, the flow of tourists begins to decline, but the weather is still very favorable for swimming and sunbathing: the average daily air temperature is +30.8 °C, for water +27.2 °C. Tourists often choose this month for family vacation, including with children.

This is probably the only beach in Ayia Napa that we would not recommend for families with children, because unlike other beaches, the entrance to the water here is quite sharp, deep, the bottom is rocky. The entrance to the sea along the entire beach is rocky. The bottom of the sea near the shore is covered with large stones of volcanic origin protruding above the surface of the water. At western edge On the beach, a decorative pier is lined with stone, which goes five meters into the water from the shore. The pier does not reach deep water, there is no descent to the water from the pier. Tourists use the stone pier for photo shoots against the backdrop of the sea - especially interesting pictures are taken during medium waves. A little to the right of the pier from the cliff there is a stairway to deep water - this is the most convenient and safest way to access the sea on the beach.

Due to the rocky entrance to the water, even with complete calm or low waves, caution should be exercised when entering the sea. With medium and high waves, entering the sea at Loukos tou Mandi Beach becomes especially dangerous.

The best beach in Cyprus according to most is Nissi Beach. Description of the beach, hotels and apartments near Nissi Beach, bars and clubs of Ayia Napa, what to do on Nissi Beach, photos and reviews of tourists about Nissi Beach.

Nissi Beach - description and photo

Nissi in Greek - island, and Nissi Beach got its name in honor of a small island 50 meters from the coast, which is connected to the beach by a narrow spit through which you can walk. There is nothing on the island, stones and thickets of cacti, but the view is magnificent. Here you can feel the relative solitude, of course, in comparison with the party Nissi beach. From the island you can do beautiful photos especially at dawn or before sunset.

Nissi Beach - Nissi Beach, Cyprus

And the beach itself Nissi Beach- it is more than 500 meters of white as snow sand. It is not very natural for Cyprus, given that the natural beaches are mostly clay or rocky. The exception is the beaches, but even there the sand is not as white as on Nissi Beach. The secret is that the sand is imported - it was brought to Nissi Beach many years ago and since then the beach has been maintained in perfect condition. Moreover, at any time of the year, and we are here in autumn, and in spring, and in summer. Mine blue quality flag Nissi Beach is completely deserved.

In addition to white, clean and pleasant to the touch sand on Nissi Beach, there is a gentle entry into the water and a smooth, but rapid increase in depth. There are only a few steps to go to the comfortable depth of the sea “chest-deep”. Because of its location, there are practically no waves here, even during the period of spring periodic, albeit small, storms.

Nissi Beach - Nissi Beach, Cyprus

The color of the water is so turquoise that you want to get into the water already in March, despite the water temperature of about plus 16 Celsius. But for the sake of experiment and sensations, I had to swim, although I am not a fan of cold water. The purity of the sea, both in spring and in summer, is ideal and resembles the best Greek island beaches.

The number of sun loungers is sufficient, however, during the peak season, almost everything is occupied here, including just places on the sand near the sea's edge.

forgot to say that Nissi Beach although it is built up with hotels with many stars, it is municipal. This means that anyone can come here completely calmly and regardless of whether you live in local hotel or came from Protaras or Larnaca.

Infrastructure of Nissi Beach

In short, here, as well as in many similar places in Cyprus, there is everything your heart desires. From the rental of umbrellas for 2.5 Euros and beach bars with a few dozen cocktails to the center of water activities, diving and quad bike rental.

In addition, the main feature Nissi beach beach foam parties that take place three times a week, beautiful topless girls and various contests on the verge of decency, and of course white sand and excellent infrastructure are considered. It is thanks to these points of attraction Nissi Beach became famous and popular. Therefore, if you want to relax with children or be in silence, you should not come to Nissi in July-August. But at other times, this is a completely different place, more like a family paradise.

No money for bar pleasures - it doesn’t matter. Within walking distance are full of shops and shops with alcohol and various goodies. regular prices, which are not higher than Moscow.

How to get there and where is Nissi Beach

Nissi Beach is located . The former fishing village is now considered to be the best place for a beach holiday in Cyprus. Not least thanks to one of the most beautiful beaches in Cyprus - Nissi Beach.

The beach itself is located quite far from the city center and it is better to get here in the summer heat by a rented car, rented ATV or buggy, or city buses No. 101 and No. 102. Vehicles can be parked near of Nissi Beach, off-season parking fee is not taken.

Total to Ayia Napa area 14 beaches are included and all of them are marked with blue flags for the cleanliness of the coast and the sea. I will note only the most beautiful beaches that are worth seeing if you are relaxing near Nissi Beach or in Ayia Napa.

Nissi Beach - Nissi Beach, Cyprus

If you face the sea, then to the right of Nissi Beach there are three beautiful beaches. All these beaches can be reached on foot or by bike.

Adam's Beach— tiny neighbor Nissi Beach

Landa Beach– cozy and several times calmer than Nissi

Macronissos Beach- many consider it even more beautiful than Nissi Beach, it is located only 800 meters from it.

To the left of Nissi Beach there are two more pretty beaches. You can also get to them along the footpath along the sea.

Vathia Beach (Sandy Bay) and Pernera Beach- well-groomed beaches located in semicircular natural lagoons.

HotelsonbeachNissibeach

On the first line are beautiful hotels business class with swimming pools, patios, bars and green lawns, which, despite the considerable cost, are sold out long before the start of the season - you can check it yourself - below I give links to hotels for your convenience.

Tourist class hotels and apartments are located across the street from Nissi Avenue. If you plan to have an active pastime, then you should not overpay for the first line. But if you want to wake up to the sound of the waves and spend more time on the beach, then of course choose a hotel closer to the sea. We have tried both options in different time and below is a list of recommended apartments and hotels where we or our friends stayed.

Virtually the entire area directly in front of Nissi Bee beach h occupies a large hotel Nissi Beach Resort. You can park your rental car in the parking lot in front of the hotel, it's free.

We went with a child in early May. We were afraid that the water would still be cold. But nothing, the water temperature was 20 degrees. The main thing is to enter it, and then no discomfort. And come out fine. The child was simply not to be pulled out. What is good about this beach is that it is shallow. The water warms up faster, for children what you need. If you want to swim, you need to go deeper, but the water is colder there. The beach is beautiful, the water is azure and clear. We looked after him at home, he is very beautiful in the photographs, we did not even expect that he causes the same delight in real life!
Sunbeds on the beach are paid 2.5 € per day. You can lie down just on a towel, as many do. We went to the sea just to swim, we don’t like to roast in the sun, so we spent most of the time on free sunbeds near the pool. There you can find sunbeds in the shade. In general, the entire territory of the hotel is surrounded by greenery. There is a fairly large garden in which it is pleasant to take a walk.
No complaints about the staff. Cleaned every day, towels changed, shampoos delivered. Receptionists also took care of all issues. No complaints. The only downside is poor internet.
I read in some comment to the review that people went to neighboring hotel and paid some crazy money for the Internet. It seems like 10€ per person and there were four of them. And they also wrote that they were happy that there is such an opportunity! I have no words. Almost all restaurants outside the hotel have free internet! Or you can buy a 3G SIM card in a store, I don’t know exactly how much it costs, because we went to a restaurant for lunch or dinner and used it for free.
On the street, outside the hotel, there are many cafes for every taste. Almost all have playgrounds for children. Prices are more or less the same everywhere, though there are places where they are overpriced. We opted for Apple. Somehow they all fit together. And not far from the hotel, and the prices there are the best, and we liked the food there most of all, and the child liked the playroom more than others. Meze also ate there, very tasty, most importantly everything is fresh. By the way, meze can be found in almost any bar, but as we understand, this is not meze everywhere. Once on the beach we talked with two couples and compared who ate what meze, so we won! We had the most delicious and interesting. Once we went to a Mexican restaurant in the center. Our dad is an amateur. We also liked it, but very crowded and noisy. We were on a weekend and it was full of Cypriots celebrating their birthdays.
We went to the amusement park in the center. There are still few people, we almost rode alone. There was another family with a girl and we went with them to all the attractions for the company. But they even launched rides just for us. We went to the oceanarium. We took a taxi and drove off. Drive 10-15 minutes. Tickets for adults 13€, for children 7€. In addition to fish, there is a small zoo with crocodiles and penguins. For children it's great.
Of course, holidays in Cyprus are not the same as in Turkey or the UAE. Not much entertainment for kids and hotel grounds are different. But you need to go to Cyprus to relax not in order to take all inclusive and sit in a hotel, but in order to enjoy the sea, a magnificent beach, walk around the city, go on excursions. We liked it very much, we would return to Nissi Beach again.
