Phu Quoc: attractions and what to see on the island on your own. What to do and what excursions to visit in Fukuoka Nightclubs and recreation in Fukuoka

About 20 years ago the most big Island Vietnam and today's popular resort was completely set aside for a prisoner of war prison. Apart from the prison itself and a few villages, there was nothing on the island.

Now Phu Quoc is compared with the largest resort in Thailand - the island of Phuket. Every year, Phu Quoc turns from a wild island into a place for tourism and acquires the appropriate infrastructure. Phu Quoc (Vietnam) has little to see. But everyone who finds himself in Vietnam for the first time enjoys visiting local attractions, despite the fact that they are small in number and of historical value.

In this article, we will talk about the most popular tourist places in Fukuoka and the intricacies of visiting them.

Coconut Prison (Phu Quoc Prison)

Coconut prison in the last century was indeed a prison, a point where thousands of military prisoners lived with fear every day. Now a museum has been built on the site of the old prison, visiting which you can understand how prisoners of war lived. The Vietnamese tried with the help of realistic figures to restore life and show all the hardships of prison life.

The place is ugly and creepy. It will be interesting to visit it for those who are interested in the history of Vietnam or world history in general. Many exhibits have already worn out and lost their original appearance, but this rather adds to the sights of the surroundings.

In order to better understand what you see, it is optimal to visit the Coconut Prison with a guide. But if you decide to go there on your own, the installed stands describing the history of the prison will help you find out more data. Please note that all information is in English.

The central market of Duong Dong can be divided into two: day and night. They differ in assortment, color, and prices. It is better to come to the daytime in the morning. Here you will find the freshest seafood affordable prices, exotic fruits, sweets traditional for Vietnam and much more. If you first came to the Vietnamese market, then what is happening around you may be a little unexpected. It's noisy, cramped, and far from clean. Be prepared for this.

But the most interesting is the Pkukuoka night market. Here you can not only buy almost all the same products as in the daytime, but also eat them without leaving the counter. The products you bought, the Vietnamese will immediately cook. In fact, the night market is a huge cluster of fast food cafes designed for tourists.

Spicy lovers, those who are looking for something else to see in Fukuoka and just enthusiasts should definitely visit the pepper plantations. The largest of these is the Hutuong plantation. The best peppers in Asia are grown here. The plantation has many varieties. Visitors are even offered to taste the most popular varieties of peppers for free (or for a symbolic amount).

In Hutuong you can learn how pepper is grown, how and who harvests it. How the product is processed, and reach the form in which we are accustomed to use the spice. You can go to such a plantation on your own, but with a guide the visit will be much more interesting. Shops on the spot have the opportunity to buy different types pepper as a souvenir. But those who have been here recommend buying the same pepper in the city 2-3 times cheaper.

Where is: central part Phu Quoc islands.

When can you see the plantations: daily from 08:00 to 16:30.

The fish sauce factory is one of the main attractions of Phu Quoc and Vietnam in general. Nothing is possible without fish sauce. National dish Vietnam. It is served in almost all places where you can eat: fast, cafes and restaurants. In addition to local use, fish sauce from Vietnam is exported all over the world. Many will be interested to see with their own eyes how this product is made.

In order to understand everything that happens at the factory, it is worth going there with a guide. He will tell you about all stages of the production of such a popular fish sauce and about its history. It is worth considering that the smell at the factory is quite specific and not everyone will be able to calmly endure such an excursion.

On the territory of the plant there is a small shop where everyone can buy the fish sauce produced on the spot as a souvenir.

One of the most popular entertainment in Phu Quoc is visiting the night market in Duong Dong (Vo Thi Sau, TT. Duong Dong, Phu Quoc, tinh Kien Giang). It is small, but on the shelves you can find anything your heart desires: clothes, souvenirs, jewelry, pictures embroidered with silk threads, Vietnamese vodka with a snake or a scorpion inside a bottle, and other local curiosities.

Most tourists come to the night market not at all for the sake of shopping, but in order to taste sea delicacies - every day at about 17:00 fishermen bring their day's catch there: huge shrimp, lobsters, moray eels, squid, crabs, scallops and other reptiles. All this is cooked on the grill or steamed at the request of the client and served with light Vietnamese beer or carbonated drinks. The pleasure of eating seafood is indescribable, especially since the prices for them are quite democratic.

Tourism is developing in Fukuoka not so long ago. Just a few decades ago, the island was a gloomy place - a prison and a torture camp. The casemates were built by the French colonialists, then they were very actively used by the Americans during the Vietnam War. At that time, there were several hundred barracks where captured soldiers of the North Vietnamese army were kept. Prisoners were abused, many of them died from disease, exhaustion, and also at the hands of guards.

Today, on the site of the former prison, there is a memorial museum, consisting of an exhibition center and a platform for open sky. Its main exhibits are mannequins of overseers and prisoners depicted in action: scenes of sophisticated torture and abuse are recreated.

Coconut Prison is a living reminder to every Vietnamese of the tragic milestones in history, created so that people do not forget at what cost the country gained independence. Entrance to the territory of the complex is free (off. site in English).

Long Beach and Bai Sao Beaches

The main attraction of Fukuoka is its magnificent beaches, for which you can endure many hours of flight and acclimatization. The most popular is Long Beach, which stretches for 20 km along the ocean. It is located in the western part of the island near the airport and is a strip of golden sand framed by tropical vegetation. This is the most tourist place region: hotels, restaurants, bars are concentrated here and a convenient infrastructure has been created.

Getting to Fukuoka is easy. The fastest way is by plane. Vietnam Airlines planes fly daily from Saigon to the island and back. Most cheap way- get to the island by sea. At the bus station in Ho Chi Minh City, you need to take night bus to the city Ratzya. This city has a small port. Ferries to Phu Quoc depart from there twice a day.

There are only 6 on Phu Quoc Island settlements. The capital of the island is Duong Dong. But do not think that you will find yourself in another metropolis. This is, rather, not even a town, but a small village, but this is where the administrative buildings are located. There are many small restaurants, cafes, hotels. At the night market, you can buy almost everything, from seafood to souvenirs.

There are few settlements in Fukuoka. All resorts of the island are mostly small towns and villages located on the seashore. Local resorts are very different from the resorts of mainland Vietnam. There is a very calm atmosphere here.

The second largest city on the island is Thoi. Here is the main ferry port of the island. Vessels come here from the city of Rach Gia, located on the mainland. From here you can go on a boat trip to the An Thoi Islands.

To the north of the city of Duong Dong there is a small but very interesting village Cua Can. There are a lot of old wooden bridges here.

32 km from the city of Duong Dong is a village Gan Dau. In clear weather, the coast of Kampuchea is perfectly visible from here. Not far from this village are the most calm beaches islands. A few years ago they were closed to tourists.

There is a village 14 km east of Duong Dong Ham Ning. Local residents are mainly engaged in fishing. There is a small cafe where you can taste local seafood dishes. During the rainy season, this is the best place to relax, as the sea is calm here.

The roads in Fukuoka are mostly unpaved. Local residents mainly use two-wheeled vehicles - motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles. But it's not worth getting upset about it. A comfortable bus will take you to the hotel. And for sightseeing, you can rent a taxi or a scooter.

Phu Quoc attracts many tourists with its truly heavenly beaches. Many beaches are still not fully explored. This is what attracts people, gives the beaches such beauty and romance that you will not find anywhere else in the world.

Local beaches stretch from north to south along the entire coast. Here are the main beaches.

Bai Dai. This beach is considered one of the most beautiful in Vietnam. It is located in the northwest of the island. There are still few tourist facilities here, there are only a few small cafes. A dirt road runs along the entire length of the beach, sandy paths depart from it, along which you can get to a secluded area. In the future, a resort complex will be built here.

South of Bai Dai Beach is a beach Bai Wung Bau. Here is white sand, calm blue water. Thick grass grows near the shore. There are several restaurants on the beach where you can try seafood. There are several hotels near the beach.

There is a beach north of Duong Dong Bai Ong Lang. There are several hotels of different price categories near the beach.

In the northern part of the island, there is a beach Bai Gan Dau. It has very white sand. Near the beach - large resort hotel Peppercorn Beach. Not far from the beach there is a small fishing village where you can see many wooden fishing boats.

There is a beach in the southeast of the island bai sao- one of the most popular in Fukuoka. In recent years, bars, restaurants, hotels, water sports centers have appeared here.

Along southwest coast the island stretches for almost 20 km beach Long Beach. In its northern part, there are many different tourist sites, but mostly the beach is deserted.

There is a beach in the southeast of the island. Bai Wong. This is very famous beach, however, jellyfish are often found in its waters. Near the pier there are several restaurants where you can taste seafood. Several hotels will be built here in the coming years.

Phu Quoc resort will not disappoint lovers of relaxation. True, those who yearn active entertainment in nightlife, you will have to go to the mainland of Vietnam.

Here often, and on a grand scale, different national holidays are celebrated. Fishing enthusiasts will be able to hunt big fish in the evening. Here real paradise for divers. The depth of the sea in the northern part is no more than 10 m, so beginners often come here. Very popular here "Robinson Day"- Excursion to a desert island. Those who wish can visit the most amazing places islands. It's worth visiting:

  • In a coconut prison (now a museum is organized there);
  • At the famous Fish Mousse Factory;
  • At the pearl factory;
  • On lakes and waterfalls;
  • At the night market;

  • In local pagodas;
  • On a pepper plantation;
  • And, of course, in the amusement park.

About the amusement park Vinpearl Land should be mentioned separately. He appeared on the island not so long ago, but is already very popular. The park can be reached by bus from the city center. Here you can visit:

  • Dolphinarium;
  • Oceanarium;
  • Aquapark;
  • Skating rink and ice hall;
  • Restaurants and cafes;
  • slot machines;
  • Various attractions;
  • Fountain light show.

The island has all the conditions for families with children. It's always warm here. Clean, gentle, sandy beaches perfect for bathing children. In Fukuoka, there are several hotels focused on families with children. Here you will be offered babysitting services, a baby cot, on request - a special menu, for children under 2 years old - free accommodation with a cot, for children under 6 years old - free accommodation without a bed. In such hotels there are playgrounds for children's games.

But even if you do not settle in such a hotel, the local population will help you solve all the problems that may arise. The Vietnamese love children, cherish and honor family relationships. Many restaurants have a children's menu. In stores you can buy everything you need for a child. True, it is better to take a set of essential medicines with you, in case they are needed at night. There are no 24-hour pharmacies on the island.

The Vietnamese island of Phu Quoc is not in vain called a paradise for lovers beach holiday. Those who have already been there, tend to get to those parts again. Now tour operators offer different options for trips to this island. The hospitable island invites all lovers of untouched nature to rest!

North of Phu Quoc Island

In addition to the already described amusement park Winpearl Land, where they go free buses, in the north of the island you can see just a few places:

  • Beach with starfish(more about the beaches below)
  • Private zoo
  • The most north point overlooking Cambodia
  • Crocodile farm

The northern excursions also include the sights of the central part of Fukuoka: waterfalls, a reservoir, a dog kennel, pepper and myrtle factories, an authentic fishing village. All these points have long been on Google maps and are available for independent trips, for example, on a motorbike.

The normal price for a trip by car with a Russian guide is approximately $150 - $175 depending on the chosen route and the size of the car.

South of Phu Quoc Island

Sights of the south can be viewed a little higher on the traffic map sightseeing bus. If for some reason the bus does not suit you, then you can take a motorcycle tour or book a tour by car with a Russian guide. Very often, such excursions include a cable car - a car takes you to the cable car, then the guide gives you time for the trip, and he waits in the car or, if desired, can also ride along the road for a fee. Such tours usually cost between $130 and $150, excluding cable car tickets.

My opinion from worthy places in the south of the island, pay attention to:

  • Episode Beach and Golden Sand Beach
  • Pagoda
  • Bai Sao Beach or Paradise
  • Sui Tran Waterfall
  • cable car

Everything else is a waste of time, and when visiting a coconut prison, it is also a waste of good mood.

The beaches of Phu Quoc island

The beaches of Phu Quoc Island are varied and worth a visit, some of them are practically untouched, while others already have expensive private hotels blocking the passage. Do not forget that in Vietnam, as in most countries, a strip of land 50 meters from the water is a public area and no one has the right to kick you out of it. But remember that it is also impossible to go to a public place through the private territory of the hotel.

So, if a particularly zealous guard (these are seen near Marriott, Episode and Bamboo Beach) tries to kick you off the beach, offer to call the police and sort it out according to the law.

Sea trips

Boat trips in Fukuoka are not many things that you cannot organize on your own. That is, in any case, you will have to contact one of the travel agencies. Of course, you can come to the port and try to negotiate with the captain, but as a rule, a Vietnamese negotiator will jump out and give you a price many times higher than you could get in a Vietnamese agency. Therefore, it is better to immediately contact the agency, the main thing is to look at the approximate price level.

So, what does the island of Phu Quoc offer.

Trip on a two-deck boat

Walks on double-deck comfortable boats are of different types. The average price of an economy option with lunch costs $17. For this money, you will be picked up at the hotel, brought to the port and put on a ship, where in addition to you there will be about 50 more people. Far more comfortable rides cost $30 per person. On such trips, only 12-15 Russian-speaking people are accommodated on the same boats, accompanied by a Russian-speaking guide. Renting the entire boat will cost an average of $300-350.

During the trips, you will visit several islands (3-4 islands depending on the price) and a couple of oral reefs, depending on the chosen direction north or south. The program also includes swimming or snorkeling in the clearest waters near the islands, Vietnamese fishing and, of course, lunch on the ship.

This trip takes a whole day and is suitable for families with children.

Walk on a speed boat - a speed boat

A speedboat is a speedboat or speedboat. A very interesting form of transport, which allows you not to waste time on a slow walk along the sea, but immediately brings you to the place of interest. As a rule, speedboat excursions include more islands and visits interesting place- longer swimming, longer snorkelling. Lunch of your choice either on one of the islands or on a floating village.

Average speedboat prices:

  • group trip for a group of 6 to 15 people without lunch $ 45 per person
  • group trip with lunch $55 per person
  • personal trip from $300 per boat, no lunch

Transfer from and to the hotel within the city, always included in the price

Exclusive excursions for professionals and amateurs

It remains to tell about a couple of activities that I personally didn’t want to attend, but quite a few extreme lovers come to Phu Quoc. when going on such excursions, do not forget to check your insurance policy that it includes such risks, or immediately buy insurance from a trusted company that includes the risks of active sports and motorcycle driving.

However, insurance can often be ordered additionally. But more on that below.

Diving in Phu Quoc

For example, the most popular dive center Fukuoka - Tortuga provides customer insurance. The main thing is to warn the manager about your desire in advance. The cost of trial dives is on average 40-60 dollars. Full dives $80 for two dives.

In addition, in Fukuoka, you can get training and certification in NDL and PADI diving. The cost of training depends on the chosen certification system and is approximately $320-370.

Sea fishing for big fish

Another pleasure not for the faint of heart is a sea fisherman for large fish. The fish are really caught by several kilograms. But for this, you have to get up before dawn and be at sea by 6 o’clock. Spring is the biggest flow of fish. Fishing is carried out on a live squid, so it is possible to catch very interesting fish specimens.

You need to understand that such fishing is not an easy task. For those who are usually seasick in the sea or on an airplane, it is better to bypass such fishing in Fukuoka if you do not want to lie flat. In addition, such pleasure is not cheap - about $ 400 for a boat for up to 4 people and $ 50 for each additional one.

Motorcycle excursions to enduro and trekking

The last thing I want to talk about is an off-road motorcycle excursion on an endro. And also about hiking on the island of Phu Quoc. Both the first and second options are quite dangerous and require preparation. For trips on a bike, I strongly recommend not only the presence of international rights of category A, but also the experience of driving a motorbike over rough terrain.

Hiking is interesting for its views, but do not forget that the walk takes place in the real jungle. This means that there are risks to meet both dangerous insects and snakes and spiders. In addition, mosquitoes are found in the jungle - carriers of various diseases. So, a pleasure walk in slates and shorts will not work

Summing up what you can see in Fukuoka

In my opinion, the following types of recreation and entertainment in Fukuoka deserve attention, for which you can spend several days of your vacation:

  • cable car – 1 day
  • winpearl and safari – 1-2 days
  • Sea trip – 1 day
  • Sightseeing tour of the north and south of Fukuoka 1-2 days
  • Perhaps diving or fishing, here who loves what

Thus, at least half of your vacation will be devoted to various trips and you will simply never get bored. Have a great time in Fukuoka. If you have any questions, do not forget to add to our chats on social networks.

Introducing the Top 10 best attractions and excursions on the island of Phu Quoc. The sights of Phu Quoc Island are, but also excursions to historical sites, Buddhist shrines, fishing villages that have stood the test of time.

Despite the emergence of many luxury beach resorts with modern amenities, you can still enjoy various interesting excursions during your vacation.

For example, more than half of Phu Quoc Island is national park included in the UNESCO list.

Local markets, fishing villages, agricultural plantations are great for exploring the features of local life.

So, in front of you - 10 main attractions and the best excursions Phu Quoc islands. And which of them deserves the first place - you decide.

1. Phu Quoc National Park.

The park occupies more than half of the area of the island. It is located 26 kilometers north of Duong Dong. Here you can enjoy activities such as hiking, camping, wild nature, photography, bird watching.

If you want to test your endurance, then a rather difficult 4-hour trek through the jungle is prepared for you, after which the ascent of the bamboo stairs to Heavenly Mountain will follow.

The most high peak in Phu Quoc National Park - Mount Chua, which is located at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level, but is currently under construction hiking trails and viewing platforms for excursions.

Not all areas national park open to tourists. The permitted tour route passes through the village of Ganh Dau. You can book a day trip or just rent a motorbike to get here on your own. Also keep in mind that the road leading here is not paved and quite bumpy.

2. Kau rock.

Cau Rock is located next to Duong Dong harbor. On this rock there is a lighthouse and a Buddhist temple with a rooftop terrace. That is, the temple simultaneously performs the function of a lighthouse thanks to a small turret on the roof. This temple was built in 1937 in honor of Tien Hau (goddess of the sea) who provides protection to local fishermen heading out to sea.

29 stone steps lead to the top of the temple. From here you can enjoy sunset views and picturesque views of the nearby islets.

The temple is relatively quiet for most of the year, apart from annual festivities such as Tet ( New Year) and the Dinh Cau Festival (October 15-16), when locals offer prayers and burn incense sticks on the Tien Hau altar.

Visiting this attraction of Phu Quoc Island is free. At the foot of the temple there are several shops with snacks and drinks, so you will feel quite comfortable. However, out of respect for the locals who frequent this place, it is recommended that you dress appropriately and respect the customs of the country where you are only a guest.

3. Waterfall Suoi Tranh.

The Suoi Trankh waterfall is 4 meters high and is surrounded by lush greenery. There are several small natural caves around, as well as shallow pools in the rocks, where you can even swim. Numerous walkways lead to the waterfall. Therefore, an excursion to Suoi Tranh is both a walk through the jungle, as well as a light picnic in nature. Of course, on the way you can watch the local fauna, especially the birds, which are very numerous here.

This local landmark of Phu Quoc is located about 10 minutes drive from Duong Dong - a distance of about 7 kilometers.

Not far from the waterfall is the fishing village of Hamn Ninh, where you can look at the life of local fishermen, as well as taste very delicious dishes. local cuisine. Everything is fresh, very tasty and inexpensive.

As with most waterfalls, the best time to visit them is during the rainy season. In Phu Quoc, this is from May to September.

The tour costs VND5,000 and parking is available for an additional VND10,000.

Due to its close proximity to the island's main town, Phu Quoc, the Suoi Tranh waterfall area is usually crowded with locals during weekends and national holidays, so we highly recommend heading there early for the best picnic spot.

4. Duong Dong market.

Duong Dong market is the busiest and largest open market Phu Quoc islands.

This is not only an interesting attraction, but also useful. Here you can once again see the local way of life and buy fresh produce. Located on Tran Phu Street, Duong Dong market is conditionally divided into 2 parts - water and land. The water side is adjacent to the port of Duong Dong, and here many fishing boats unload fresh seafood such as eel, squid, mackerel, barracuda and shellfish early in the morning, which are immediately put up for sale.

The ground, or "dry" part of the market, sells the famous fish sauce, mushrooms, peppers, nuts, spices, various souvenirs, household items, sweets and fruits from mainland Vietnam.

Like most Asian markets, there are also many shops selling juices and Vietnamese dishes at fairly reasonable prices.

The best time to visit the market is early in the morning.

5. Sun Hung Pagoda

Sun Hung Pagoda is a combination of two Buddhist shrines that were built in the early 10th century, making it the oldest of its kind in Phu Quoc.

At the beginning of the 20th century, 2 more pagodas were built next to them - Sung Ngia and Hung Nhan Pagodas, in which local residents prayed for the departed. Well, then they were all united into a single entity called Sun Hung Pagoda.

Sun Hung Pagoda has undergone two major restorations, but much of its original architecture has remained unchanged over the years.

The inner courtyard has many Bodhi trees, there is also a statue of the Goddess of Mercy standing in the middle of a lotus pond, and a sanctuary house containing a bronze bell, numerous sculptures, and red lacquered plaques engraved with writing.

The main prayer hall houses three Buddha statues (Amitabha, Mahathamapratta Bodhisattva and Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva) and intricate paintings of Buddhist mythical creatures and legendary characters.

The temple is open daily and admission is free. Visitors are advised to dress conservatively out of respect for the monks and locals who frequent Sun Hung Pagoda.

6. Amusement Park Vinpearl (Vinpearl).

Vinpearl Land Phu Quoc amusement park is a big Entertainment Center consisting of several parts. This is the most famous and popular attraction of Phu Quoc Island. And it doesn’t matter at all that in our review of sights and the best places in Phu Quoc, it is in 6th place. We think that many will put a visit to Winperl in 1st place and in their own way they will be absolutely right.

An artificial 24-meter mountain hides a huge amusement park with amazing rides for kids and adults.
