Rest in Bulgaria resort of St. Vlas. Reviews about holidays in Bulgaria. When is the season. When is the best time to go

Saint Vlas (Sveti Vlas) is a small town in Bulgaria, located on the Black Sea coast. Since 1963 it has been a climatic seaside resort. Now a little more than 4,000 people live in Sveti Vlas, with 40% of the property owned by citizens of Russia and other republics of the former USSR.

History of Saint Vlas

The first settlement on the territory of modern Sveti Vlas appeared in the 2nd century AD. It was a Thracian settlement called "Larisa". Own modern name the city received in the XIV century in honor of Blasius of Sebaste - a Christian saint, the patron saint of livestock.

In the XIV-XVIII centuries there were several Orthodox monasteries destroyed by the Ottomans.

During the period of Turkish rule, the settlement had several different names, the name of Sveti Vlas returned to him only in 1886.

Until 1920, mostly Greeks lived in the village, but after a series of wars, Bulgarian families from various regions of Bulgaria appeared in it. The Greeks moved to Western Thrace, which had been transferred to Greece by that time.

A new stage in the history of Sveti Vlas began in 1963, with the opening of a climatic resort. The next revival falls on the 2000s, during the period of intensive development of the Black Sea coast. The resort received the status of a city only in 2006.

Not far from St. Vlas there are noisy resort complex Sunny Beach(Slanchev Briag) and ancient Nessebar.

Resort St. Vlas

During the 54 years of its existence as a resort, Sveti Vlas has become one of the most popular resorts Bulgaria. A number of factors contribute to this:

  • healing and mild climate;
  • convenient location in close proximity to major centers, but at the same time, at some distance from them, providing a leisurely, comfortable stay;
  • a large number of cloudless sunny days;
  • the purest mountain and sea air;
  • coniferous forests in the vicinity;
  • warm sea - even in December the sea can warm up to +15 degrees;
  • beautiful beaches.

Sveti Vlas resort is great for family vacation, and the local climate creates natural conditions for the treatment of respiratory tract and asthma.

Beaches

The beaches of the resort are wide and sandy, located in small coves, well suited for swimming. The total length of the three beaches of Sveti Vlas is 1.5 kilometers. The beaches "Marina" and "Central" are located on both sides of the marina "Marina Dinevi" - the largest yacht port in Bulgaria.

The beaches of St. Vlas provide a full range of "classic" services: here you can ride yachts, jet skis, "bananas", water skiing; go windsurfing. There are special playgrounds for children. There are also no problems with food: numerous cafes and restaurants are open on the beaches and in the city itself, shops are open.

The best time to travel to Sveti Vlas is from the beginning of June to the end of September. At this time, the air temperature warms up to + 25-26 degrees, and the water temperature - up to + 23-25˚C. There is no exhausting heat in the resort, this is facilitated by a fresh, ion-rich sea breeze.

Infrastructure

The hotel complexes of the resort do not resemble monotonous, dull buildings. Each of them is decorated in an original style, has patios with swimming pools and bars, sports grounds.

Prices for accommodation here are moderate, and this is despite the fact that the resort has become a favorite place for recreation and residence of the local (and foreign) elite. By the way, the proximity of the "powerful of this world" provides a high level of public order at the resort. There is also no need to worry about active construction within the city: construction work in the resorts during the summer months is prohibited by the laws of Bulgaria.

There is no embankment as such in Sveti Vlas, and all the purchases and services necessary for vacationers can be purchased on the two main tourist streets - Tsar Simeon and Mak, from which you can look at the yacht port. Tsar Simeon - the main shopping street of the town, passing through central square with administrative buildings.

Sights of Saint Vlas

One of the main attractions of the city is the temple of St. Blaise, the patron saint of the town, built in 2007. It was built on the site of a monastery destroyed by the Turks. Orthodox shrines are kept in this church - the relics of St. Blaise and a particle of the Life-Giving Cross.

Another Orthodox church- Church of St. Athanasius the Great, built in the middle of the XIX century.

From the ancient Orthodox monasteries there are picturesque ruins, as well as the churches of Blachernae and St. Andrew.

Among the cultural attractions, it is worth noting the grandiose open amphitheater "Arena", on the stage of which you can watch performances by youth contemporary dance groups, theatrical performances, and all kinds of shows.

Other attractions in St. Vlas include local and international regattas, supercar rallies, beauty contests, auto shows, fashion shows, sailing school competitions and much more.

By the way, the yacht harbor "Marina Dinevi" can also be called one of the attractions of Sveti Vlas: it is designed for 300 yachts, with 50 places for royal-class yachts over 25 meters long. The harbor is especially magnificent at night, when beautiful illumination illuminates the even rows of masts, coastline and the mysterious shimmer of the sea.

On the territory of the pier there are expensive restaurants, shops of leading fashion brands, a casino and other attributes of the "dolce vita".

If you are bored with a beach holiday, and local attractions have been explored far and wide, then you can organize an excursion to ancient city Nessebar (Nessebar), located just 10 km from St. Vlas. To do this, you can hire a yacht or use a sightseeing tour, they are offered at any hotel.

Tourist interest is primarily Old Nessebar - one of oldest cities Bulgaria and Europe, listed world heritage UNESCO. Its age is more than 3000 years, and on the territory of Old Nessebar, turned into a pedestrian zone, there are about 40 ancient temples and other evidence of its centuries-old history.

Climate

The resort has a mild temperate climate with average temperature air in summer time year +27 degrees. Precipitation falls periodically, but they are not too intense and do not interfere with rest at all, especially since there are very few rainy days from May to September. It is interesting that the water temperature from June to October stays here at around +22..+24 degrees, significantly prolonging the swimming season. In the last month of autumn, it is no longer suitable for swimming, and by this time the air temperature drops to +13. Sveti Vlas enjoys serious success with amateurs beach holiday, which is an indispensable indicator of the quality of the resort and the result of its dynamic development over the past 10 years.

Attractions and entertainment

Unlike most Bulgarian cities, the resort does not have a traditional seaside promenade, but it is successfully compensated by two tourist streets: Tsar Simeon and Poppy. The first of them houses diverse shops, as well as vegetable, fruit and souvenir shops, where at rather low prices you can buy both beautiful decorations and exotic fruits, mixed with classic southern watermelons, bananas, melons and grapes. Along the marina Marina Dinevi stretches Mak Street with its restaurants, cafes, pizzerias and bars, where visitors are always extremely friendly and recommend them to try the delicious dishes and drinks presented on the menu. From all the establishments located along the coast, a wonderful view of the sea opens up, which allows guests to fully combine the process of dining with admiring the Black Sea landscapes. The main architectural landmark of the city is Temple of Athanasius the Great built in the second half of the 19th century. All kinds of festive and solemn events celebrated in St. Vlas are celebrated on the site of the open amphitheater Arena. Folklore evenings, theatrical performances and various shows are also held there. The port of Marina Dinevi annually organizes yachting competitions, retro motorcycle parades, presentations, street exhibitions and other colorful events.

As for traditional entertainment for lovers of active nightlife, then for this they go to neighboring Nessebar, to Sunny Beach, where a huge number of night bars and discos are concentrated. There you can also visit a wonderful water park, one of the best in Bulgaria. Among the fascinating excursion routes, in St. Vlas, the most popular trips to Burgas for wine tasting, a trip to Turkish Istanbul to get acquainted with its cultural and historical sights, as well as tours to the capital Sofia and other nearby regions of the country. Those tourists who prefer not to travel outside resort area, have at their disposal almost limitless opportunities for active pastime on the beach. For them, rental points are open daily. water transport, and experienced instructors are always ready to help in mastering the skills of scuba diving or water skiing. Fishing fans can rent a boat or a boat, going to fish in the open sea or in fishing spots along the Black Sea coast.

Accommodation

In 2006, a large-scale construction was launched at the resort, designed to increase the number of hotels and create new shopping and entertainment centers. For several years now, work has been underway here, suspended for the duration of the swimming season, so as not to reduce tourist activity. Among all the hotels in the village, a five-star hotel clearly stands out. Garden of Eden, which has a wide range of services, highly qualified staff and an appropriate level of service. On its territory there are swimming pools, restaurants, a sauna, a SPA-salon, a tennis court, a gym and several playgrounds for team sports. The rest of the hotels have a 3 or 4 star status, but at the same time they are also of very good quality.

Kitchen

There are few restaurants in the resort, but you can find an institution to your liking, mainly Mediterranean, European cuisine, we also recommend trying local dishes, one of the restaurants with Bulgarian cuisine is Casa Verde. Those who miss Russian cuisine are recommended to visit the Mari Ivanna restaurant.

shopping

In the town itself there are many shops where you can buy memorable souvenirs, and it is also worth visiting the local market on a weekend morning. In addition to inexpensive things, you can buy fresh vegetables and fruits.

Precautionary measures

In addition to the development of the tourism industry, great attention is paid to safety in the resort. The fact is that on the territory of St. Vlas there are a number of houses belonging to major political figures of the state and developers, and quite a few expensive yachts. Due to these circumstances, round-the-clock video surveillance has been installed on the city streets, which, however, only provides the townspeople with even greater peace of mind and comfort, while not being too annoying.

Buying a tour to the resort Sveti Vlas in Bulgaria, you can find not so much information about him. The fact is that among all the big and not very small towns, St. Vlas is quite young and there are improvements in infrastructure and completion all the time. Tourists who visited it a couple of years ago are now finding new hotels, excellent restaurants, and entertainment for every taste, opening up every new season.

City of Sveti Vlas in Bulgaria

transformation city of Sveti Vlas in Bulgaria from a provincial town to a resort worthy of attention, happened quite recently, literally with the beginning of the millennium. In this case, the shortage of free territory under development in neighboring resort, famous .

Then a dilemma arose - the flow of tourists is growing every year, and the existing number of hotels is obsolete and cannot provide the level of service that is currently required. Therefore, new hotels began to be built near Sunny Beach, in a place that bore the name of St. Blaise. Old city stood not on the very seashore, but a little higher, closed by a mountain, so there was still enough space left to build not one, but several lines of hotels.

In fact, the city has been around for quite a few years, and an ancient Thracian settlement arose in that place in the second century. Its name sounds for the first time in the 14th century, when here in in large numbers pastoralists settled, who considered St. Blaise their patron, and quietly and peacefully existed without global upheavals to this day.

Due to the fact that the resort arose on the site of an existing settlement, here you may have the opportunity not only to buy a hotel room, but also to settle in the so-called private sector, which you will not be able to, say, in. Local residents are happy to rent out rooms and entire cottages to vacationers, while the rest will be similar to the Crimean one - you need to go down to the sea to the sea, and then go up again from the beach. The highway that runs along the upper edge of the village does not interfere with vacationers, as it does not cross residential streets and you do not need to cross it, moving from housing to the beach. Experienced tourists even say that you can come here without prior reservation, as there is enough space in numerous households for everyone.

In order to subsequently enter the number of Sveti Vlas, there is not only a constantly improving infrastructure, clean sea and good service. In addition, there are natural advantages that can attract many tourists here - first of all, this is the healing air. Since the building line is surrounded on all sides high mountains, overgrown with coniferous forest, and on the other hand, a healing sea breeze saturated with iodine, all together this gives a healing cocktail of incredible power. Doctors recommend coming here to both asthmatics and those suffering from pulmonological diseases, a month spent in healing climate, will allow you to feel more comfortable throughout the year. That is why many hotels direct their efforts to create a good medical base, to provide not only SPA services, but also preventive treatment.

Sveti Vlas in Bulgaria - photo

What is Sveti Vlas in Bulgaria - photo they can perfectly demonstrate to you, only it is better to look at the latest pictures, because improvements are happening literally all the time. The farther from the central pier (which we will talk about in more detail later), the more luxurious and comfortable hotels are being built, with wide beaches, entertainment, and animation.

For example, you can see an excellent beach at the five-star Garden of Eden complex (Raiska Gradina), it is spacious and very clean, because with such a mountainous terrain it is very difficult to win back a decent piece of land from nature. On the central beach, places for all vacationers may turn out to be back to back, it is located at an angle, on each side of which there is sand line with sunbeds and umbrellas. One of them is made in the so-called Hawaiian style - palm bungalows, wooden paths, swing beds. True, renting all this will cost a lot. However, you already know, if you have studied the issue, that the beaches in the country are all free and no hotel can restrict you from entering its territory. Therefore, you can sit absolutely freely without a sun lounger on a bed absolutely free of charge.

The sea is very comfortable not only because of its temperature and water transparency, because in fact it is exactly the same Black Sea as in other countries of the Black Sea region. But due to the fact that the bottom is quite flat, the comfortable depth “on the neck” and “on the chest” stretches deep enough. Therefore, the entire volume of bathers is perfectly dispersed over a vast territory and people do not interfere with each other to swim.

The town and the territory of the hotels are simply buried in flowers; this, in principle, is a distinctive feature of the whole of Bulgaria. You will certainly take away many beautiful pictures from here.

Sveti Vlas in Bulgaria: where to go

Resting even in a five-star hotel in Sveti Vlas in Bulgaria, where to go you still think. The central embankment, where most entertainment venues are concentrated, is equidistant from the far ends, and you can get there on foot or by taxi. Get ready that rest here will not be cheap, you can compare the average check in a restaurant with the average check in a restaurant in your city, they will be approximately the same or even a little more expensive in Bulgaria. The tone is set by wealthy people who, among all other resorts in Sveti Vlas, are attracted by Marina Dinevi.

This name hides a modern yacht pier, which was built in compliance with the best world standards. You can sail here on your own yacht, put it comfortably and continue to relax in the town. The capacity of the Marina is estimated at 300 yachts, and even 50 places have been developed for yachts of the so-called royal class, more than 25 meters long. In addition to the fact that yachts can be moored on a modern pier, here you can also get qualified services for the repair and maintenance of ships, get advice, even hire a captain or crew. Popularization sailing also contributes to several annual regattas that are held in the summer in the waters of Sveti Vlas - the Bulgarian internal "Victory", the international "Evolution Cup" and the competition of nautical schools.

By the way, such an abundance of wealthy guests is not always a minus for other vacationers. Since here you can see the richest people in Bulgaria, the protection of public order is on high level, even when compared with neighboring Sunny Beach or.

The marina attracts vacationers day and night, because during the day you can admire the even masts of beautiful snow-white yachts standing in even rows, and at night you can admire the beautiful illumination that illuminates both the coastline and, it seems, the sea itself. By the way, some yachts on the pier can be rented and, under the guidance of the captain, make a sea voyage to neighboring Nessebar.

Most of the most expensive restaurants, casinos, discos are located in the Marina. Here dinner can cost you a round sum, in principle, Sveti Vlas can surprise seasoned tourists from other resort areas accustomed to low Bulgarian prices. Of the restaurants, one can single out Cactus, Gloria Mar, Poseidon. It is better to focus on the number of visitors, this will be the best indicator of good value for money. For parties respectable resort doesn't fit too well, if you want a really fun night out, then it's better to call a taxi and go to Sunny Beach for it.

What to see in Sveti Vlas in Bulgaria

It's really hard to say what to see in Sveti Vlas. In Bulgaria and so, unlike Greece or Croatia, there are not too many attractions in each resort town, and even in such a small and young one, even more so. Recommend for cultural recreation use or excursion tours from hotels, or use any type of public transport(taxi, bus, ship) to visit the UNESCO monument - the city of Nessebar.

In Nessebar and in a day you can see a lot of interesting things that are there. Firstly, it is a perfectly preserved Old Town, with shops, restaurants, which are located on the first floors of ancient stone buildings, walk along the paved pavement. Be sure to also visit the ruins left after the thriving city was almost completely destroyed by a powerful earthquake centuries ago.

The architecture of local Orthodox churches is unusual, which will be interesting to see both from the outside and from the inside, because the Bulgarian decoration of churches is different from what we are used to. And just wandering through the narrow streets, buying local souvenirs, having a delicious meal and recharge with the unique local atmosphere after the monotony of the sea will be very useful.

Other popular sightseeing destinations from Sveti Vlas are water parks, which are found in both Nessebar and Sunny Beach. Getting to them is the same both in time and distance, the prices are also about the same.

Sveti Vlas in Bulgaria attractions

Unfortunately, among all Sveti Vlas, in Bulgaria attractions none known or unique. But you can see something without leaving the resort. It was not for nothing that the Ottoman conquerors called this place the "Land of monasteries", once there were a huge number of them on the local slopes. You can only see the churches of Blachernae and St. Andrew that have survived to this day.

A special attraction is not the newly built temple of St. Vlas, but the temple of Athanasius the Great, restored and opened its doors not only for parishioners, but also for tourists. Of course, outwardly, he loses to a new neighbor, and the age of the temple is modest, it was built in 1894, but by local standards it is a real monument of antiquity.

A modern building that will attract your attention can be a grandiose amphitheater built to function as a summer theater under open sky on the territory of the hotel "Dinevi Resort". Concerts are held here cultural events, sports events, children's parties.

Today, tourists are paying more and more attention not to expert assessments, but to the reviews of those who have already visited a particular country. Just like reviews about, allowing you to choose best hotel for recreation, reviews of holidays in Bulgaria provide an opportunity to optimally plan your route, visit. If you use reviews as a guide to action, yours will be bright and memorable!

Good country Bulgaria...

Bulgaria remained for me one of the few European countries where I have not yet been able to visit. In the post-war years, Bulgaria was the most accessible and popular "abroad" for Soviet citizens. Nevertheless, neither I nor my parents were in Bulgaria then. Twice, in 1963 and 1973. Bulgarian leaders turned to the Soviet authorities with a request to include Bulgaria into the USSR. But both times the consent was not obtained. M...

Horror, But youngsters who want to get drunk can like it.

There are a lot of seemingly good clubs on the coast of golden sands, but the fact is that they are all full of minors, and even just children, most often drunk, as the club management even encourages and does everything possible to attract such an audience. I'm not naming specific clubs now, they're just all like that. No checks are ever carried out, everything is 100 percent bought. It's also interesting that I didn't get a single one all night...

Holidays in Bulgaria are good. There are absolutely no problems with nutrition. From a year old, they fed the child with us in a cafe, or cooked it themselves. Hotel in Sveti Vlas

Offering a seasonal outdoor pool and a restaurant, Hotel Eden is located in Sveti Vlas, 90 meters from the nearest beach. The hotel has a bar. My husband and I liked literally everything, very cute family hotel. The rooms are very nice, we had a balcony and the view was on the hotel pool. The room was cleaned every day, the breakfasts were quite good, the buffet - there were tomatoes, cucumbers, feta cheese, sausages, olives, ham, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, muesli, pastries, buns, sometimes pancakes, fruits and something else for breakfast, You won’t remember everything. The staff themselves are very pleasant and good-natured, the owner of the hotel Stefan is a very wonderful person, we have never met such a friendly hotel owner anywhere, he personally met us at the airport and then drove us himself. The cuisine in the hotel is very tasty and not very expensive, at lunch you can eat soup for 4 levs, a glass of draft beer costs 2 levs. Walk to the beach 3 minutes, the beach without pebbles, clean. Small supermarkets within walking distance, and if you want bigger store, then in principle it’s not far either, there are buses nearby and you can safely get to any city (Nessebar or Sunny Beach). I definitely recommend the hotel, and we say a big thank you to the owner and his family for a great time in Bulgaria, all the best to you and prosperity to you in your business.

You can come in the first half of September - the sea is still warm and the air can be over 30 degrees. This hotel is part of a group of hotels - Premier and Prestige. Having settled here, you can use the services of both hotels (they are practically separated from each other through the fence). Both here and there have their own pools, their own playgrounds - they are different and can be alternated. The room and grounds are clean. The food is excellent - there are always stewed / boiled vegetables and cream soups on the buffet for lunch / dinner - there is something to feed a child from a year old. For breakfast, yogurt, cereal - will not starve either. If anything - 400 meters away is a large supermarket Mercury - there is baby food. Also a good gym. Wi-Fi is decent, enough for work and video watching.

Hotel in City Centre, Sveti Vlas

Chris Family Hotel is located in Sveti Vlas. Features a restaurant, seasonal outdoor swimming pool, a bar and shared lounge. All rooms at this 3-star hotel offer pool views. The view from the window is the sea, as promised by Chris! Clean, comfortable, quiet. I still dream about how I swim in the pool, and coffee is waiting for me on the table. Very tasty National dishes. Not far from the sea, I enjoyed walking. Very helpful. City center, a sea of pleasures, restaurants, live music, evening walks and return to a cozy room, air-conditioned, large bed. In the morning you wake up and through the open door to the balcony you can see the sea. Near mountains, narrow streets, beautiful houses. And of course nice people. Bulgarians are very calm, friendly people. They're not in a hurry and they won't let you. I recommend and very grateful to everyone, especially the owner - Chris?

Hotel in Rusalka, Sveti Vlas

Family Hotel Rosi is located in Sveti Vlas. It offers 2-star rooms with balconies. The staff was incredibly helpful and the rooms had all the necessary amenities. Location was pretty good, just a three minute walk to the center. Also, the staff made sure to always keep the rooms very clean; sending the cleaning staff just minutes after you leave so you would always come back to a clean room. I had to stay an extra few days and the staff took care of it in no time. You can not possibly get a better value for your money than this place.
