Certainly! If you are interested in seeing the ebbs and flows, walking and looking at the sea and the locals, and swimming is guaranteed in the pool. But I feel sorry for those who bought into the "Maldive Beaches" and ended up in the Zanzibar reality. I'm already silent about cards with the wrong location settlements and beaches ... Or a pearl of a tourist (!) resource on the topic: “You don’t need to be vaccinated against yellow fever to travel to Zanzibar” - yes, this is the first thing they ask at the airport! Beaches around Stone Town
Stone Town is the old center of the island in the city of Zanzibar. This is a noisy and dirty city in the Arab style, with numerous markets, cafes, souvenir shops and hotels. It's always hot and busy here. We will talk about Stone Town in a separate publication, but now we will notice that, in our opinion, although there are sandy beaches, pretty good, yet there is a port, the capital, a transit point, and therefore we do not recommend swimming in Stone Town. This city is best used for excursions.
Bububu Beach
Bububu Beach lies north of Stone Town, but not very far from it, about half an hour away. This is the first standing beach on your way and one of the most secluded on the island. There are several hotels almost at the water's edge, the path to which runs through the local villages with all the color that follows from here.
During our trip to Zanzibar, we stayed at the hotel on Bububu Beach, so we can tell a lot about it that you will not find in any tourist brochure.
This beach is very diverse. For example, in a small lagoon, the excellent Hakuna Matata hotel is located here. The lagoon here is clean, moderately shallow, moderately deep, with many marine life. At low tide, the water leaves it completely, so that from the lagoon to common beach you can go out on foot. Although "general" is said rather boldly, since there are practically no people on the beaches around the lagoon. You can sometimes see a couple of people 500 meters away from you. And you may not notice anyone. Or see a herd of cows.
In my opinion, a significant plus of Bububu Beach is that the low tides here are not strong, only a few meters, and therefore you do not have to wander 2 kilometers in the heat in search of water.
The disadvantage of Bububu beach is that the bottom here is rocky in places. You have to try hard to find the sand. Although it is he who is present in the lagoon. But you will only swim in it if you stay at Hakuna Matata.
The exotic element of the beach around the lagoon is the mangrove trees rising directly above the water.

Mangapwani Beach

It is considered one of the best beaches in Zanzibar, but there are conflicting reviews about it. Sometimes there is muddy water here. We can say with confidence that the beach is indeed dirtier than the same Bububu. But the sand is white and the water is usually turquoise.
There are also quite a lot of people here, as there are large hotels around. On the other hand, you can eat inexpensively due to the fact that competition between beach establishments is high.
Nungwi beach
Nungwi (or Nangwi) beach is the extreme north point islands, is considered the best place for diving and one of the most beautiful beach resorts Zanzibar. The water here is truly turquoise. Much more turquoise than on Bububu. And white sand.
The road to Nungwi runs through banana plantations and coconut palm groves.

And Paje beach is located in the South-East of the island. There are also plantations of sea kale, however, as it seems to us, the beach is cleaner than its counterpart. Here you will also find white sand, as in many other parts of Zanzibar. But swimming in those areas where there are plantations, we would not advise. There, sharp sticks are driven into the sand: step on one - it won’t seem enough.
Chfaka beach
Chwaka beach and the village of the same name are located 40 km from the capital. During the colonial rule of Britain in Zanzibar, it was here that numerous English offices and government villas were located. But after the revolution in 1964, all the buildings were nationalized and are now in decline.
Apart from its past, the place is curious and the largest on the island fish market where you can spend time with interest and have a snack with freshly prepared products.

Pingwe Beach
