The island of Tenerife got its name from the dormant volcano Teide, which the Guanches called "snow mountain". Surrounded by extraordinary volcanic landscapes, Tenerife is full of contrasts: prehistoric forests, coves with black sand beaches, picturesque Spanish villages, fertile valleys with tropical crops growing in them, mountain ranges with steep slopes, Canarian cuisine rich in variety and local characteristics, sights inscribed on the Cultural Heritage List.

4. "Martian" landscapes of the Teide volcano

Mount Teide on the island of Tenerife is the most high point Spain. Those who have visited the crater of the Teide volcano at an altitude of almost 4,000 meters say that being there is like touching heaven. And at the top, the view is so breathtaking that you forget about everything in the world.

Spread on the slopes of the mountain national park Teide, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Spain. And up to the crater of the volcano, where, according to the beliefs of the natives of the Guanches, an evil demon lived, there is a cable car.

5. Excursions to the rocks with whale watching

On west coast Tenerife you can admire the majestic view of the cliffs of Los Gigantes. To the inhabitants of the island, the steep basalt rocks resembled the backs of giants supporting the Teide volcano, which gave the name to the mountain formation. The rocks are separated by gorges that descend directly to the ocean. In some of these gorges you can find completely wild beaches and harbors.

It is best to admire Tenerife's landmark - the cliffs of Los Gigantes - from the water. Therefore, ocean excursions on yachts and catamarans are organized for tourists, which combine a walk to the rocks with whale and dolphin watching that live in this part of the coast of Tenerife.

6. Family vacation at the zoo and dolphinarium

Loro Park - one of the most frequently visited attractions in Tenerife - will be of interest to both adults and children. The park is located in Puerto de la Cruz. On this moment Loro Park is at the same time a botanical garden, a zoo, a dolphinarium and a large aquarium. The unspoken name of the park is a paradise for parrots; There are about 500 species of birds in the park. In addition to birds, gorillas and chimpanzees, tigers and jaguars, crocodiles, dolphins, killer whales and even penguins live in Loro Park.

From entertainment in the park, you can admire the show of parrots, where birds perform various tricks, in the pavilion "Baby station" you can see how the chicks are fed nectar from a spoon. For lovers of marine fauna - a show in the dolphinarium and a performance of sea lions. Also in the park is the Aquarium, which recreates the ecosystem of different parts of the world.

The cost of an adult ticket is 34 Euro, a child ticket is 23 Euro.

8. The biggest carnival in Europe

Known all over the world for its colorful performances. The largest in Europe and the second in the world after the Brazilian carnival in Rio de Janeiro. Many tourists specially come to Tenerife in February to enjoy this unforgettable sight.

Carnival usually lasts for two weeks, the main events are:

  • Election of the Carnival Queen - dressed in bright costumes with an abundance of feathers, the beauties are trying to surprise and impress the strict jury, which will choose only one worthy of the title of queen.
  • The main procession - a dressed up cheerful crowd to the sounds of music passes through the main streets of the city. The procession ends with fireworks.
  • The funeral of the sardine is a symbolic farewell to the carnival. A funeral procession follows the city, mourning a giant cardboard sardine made by the hands of the prisoners of the local prison. Then the fish is solemnly burned in the central square.

9. Gastronomy of Tenerife

The traditional cuisine of Tenerife is based on Mediterranean traditions: fish, meat (pork and rabbit) dishes abound in it, rice, potatoes, vegetables and tropical fruits are popular side dishes.

A popular meat dish is rabbit meat with salmorejo sauce and papas potato side dish. Papas are small potatoes with skins boiled in water with a lot of sea salt. It is served with fish and meat.

The most popular sauce in Tenerife is mojo, served in two types: green and red. Green sauce is prepared on the basis of parsley and cilantro and is suitable for fish and vegetables, red sauce is more versatile. Its main ingredient is pepper, it goes well with meat, fish or cheese.

IN local restaurants and bars you can try traditional Spanish dishes: paella (a dish of rice, meat and seafood), tortilla de patatas (omelet with potatoes), as well as jamon and various cheeses.

Even those who have never been there know about the Canaries. You can not immediately orient yourself on a world map and indicate where these fabulous islands are, but anyone can tell about them. The Canary Islands is a heavenly place where rest turns into bliss. Where the body basks in the rays gentle sun and warm azure waves. Where everyone is happy. And also…

But for the rest, it will not be superfluous to know the details. Like, for example, the fact that canary islands- only seven, and the largest of them is Tenerife. We'll talk about him.

Why Tenerife?

This island is suitable for any tourist. List of things to do here:

  • sunbathe like a sandy beaches, and play around with the pebbles on the shore;
  • admire the rocks and breathe the coniferous spirit;
  • rest on quiet resorts family and with children, but there are also "evil" places for lovers of active nightlife. In addition, the climate allows you to relax here at any time of the year (it’s not for nothing that Tenerife is called the island of “eternal spring”)

Getting here is convenient, you do not need to make transfers. It seems that there is an endless number of attractions and various entertainment. There is always somewhere to go and something to see. Prices for many goods are lower than in Europe itself. Although geographically the Canaries belong to Africa, there is practically no risk of getting sick with something terrible and rare on the island.

Sounds convincing? Then let's go!

How to get there

Easy and simple: direct flight to the island. More specifically, the southern part of it. There is international Airport where they arrive Russian aircraft. There is also a "northern" airport. But its load falls mainly on flights between the Canary Islands.

When to Fly

Whenever you want! The most low temperature in February: +19 °С. By the way, the water at this time in the ocean is the same. The hottest time is August: +28 °С. But you are unlikely to be able to cool off in the azure-transparent waves this month: water is “fresh milk”, + 25 ° С. Details of the weather by month can be found.

Where to stay, you decide for yourself, based on personal preferences. As you know, everyone has their own. Our task is to help "orient yourself on the ground." So, we bring to your attention four popular places on an island favored by tourists.

Resorts

Las Americas

Las Americas has been leading in our small top resorts for many years now. A party place where everything just begins after sunset. This is a place that is quite affordable in terms of prices, in which tourists harmoniously coexist, both with limited financial capabilities and with a broad soul. There are apartments and economy class, and five-star hotels that honestly justify their status. Las Americas resort can be described in one phrase - "all inclusive". More specifically? Please!

  • always good, windless weather with mild sun, calm ocean and no prolonged rains,
  • convenient to get to: the airport is only twenty kilometers away,
  • sandy beaches with pleasant fine sand,
  • here is the famous Avenida Avenue - the center of the resort, where there is everything you want to see, buy or eat. An endless number of restaurants and cafes with an international menu is interspersed with clothing stores and shopping malls. You can walk along the singing fountains, look into concert hall with the pompous name "Pyramid of Arona" ... It is always crowded and elegant here

The best of the best tourism infrastructures located in the south of Tenerife.

Costa Adeje

A logical continuation, not inferior in popularity, but opposite in essence, is the resort of Costa Adeje. This is a calm, family place for the privileged. The hotels here are luxurious, the prices are prohibitive. Self-sufficient tourists, staying here, never rush anywhere, lazily relax somewhere during the day, and sleep at night. The stars listen to the quiet streets... But this does not mean that there is no nightlife on Costa Adeje at all. Firstly, belated restaurant guests create some kind of movement around the resort. Secondly, the closer to the border of Las Americas, the noisier. Ultimately, having reached the border of the resorts, you can get to a quite decent El Faro disco.

It is easy to guess that the infrastructure of Costa Adeje is simpler than the American "neighbor". But the local beaches are the best in Terenif. There is also the stunning Puerto Colon Yacht Port, where you can watch the wealthy relax.

Puerto de la Cruz

Puerto de la Cruz was once the first most visited resort. And then they built Las Americas. Unlike the "faceless", in the sense of authenticity, leader, Puerto has its own flavor, its own Canarian zest.

People come here to relax and just relax:

  • walk around the city,
  • delight the eye with beautiful green gardens,
  • eat delicious food in a restaurant that focuses on local residents (i.e. no hacks!),
  • to talk about something unimportant with a neighbor at the table,
  • plenty of laziness, sleeping in a city-type hotel

The sea is rough here, so visitors prefer to swim in special pools with sea water. In general, no frills, everything is calm and measured. Ideal Resort for the older generation. But young people, let's face it, have nothing to do in Puerto de la Cruz.

Los Cristianos

Los Cristianos is located in close proximity to the resort of Las Americas and is not quite a logical end to it. This is a small original town that has grown around a once fishing village. A pleasant measured rest with a Canarian accent: cute restaurants along the narrow streets of the city give way to fruit shops and shops with delicious pastries. If, apart from the desire to sunbathe, swim and walk after dinner, you don’t want anything else, the resort of Los Cristianos is the very thing. Although, even if you suddenly want to burn extra calories, you can walk to the eternal holiday in Las Americas.

El Medano

El Medano is an intermediate stop during a global trip around the island, a resort for everyone. There is complete peace on the shore and complete ecstasy on the sea. Eternal winds allow you to ride the waves almost all year round.

Attractions

Tenerife is a big island. And there is always something to see. And the first thing you should pay attention to is the parks.

Overview of park areas in Tenerife
Name of the park Short description
Eagles Park Not just a park where you walk along aviaries with feathered birds and read signs describing their species. Under open sky exotic birds of all stripes put on an incredible show, performing all sorts of pirouettes and dives in the air. The park has three zones for performances: with the participation of exotic birds, birds of prey and even shows with sea lions. In the jungle park (another name for the park), you can try yourself as Mowgli, climbing rope bridges, or go bobsleigh. Entrance to the park costs €24, children - half the price
Aqualand Just seven kilometers from the Park of the Eagles is Aqualand, where the best performances with dolphins take place. For this spectacle, they usually ask for €23. And if you pay another hundred, then you can put on a wetsuit and learn some trick with dolphins. Water attractions will especially appeal to children of three to five years old.
Siam park But for adults it is better to go to the new Siam Park. By the way, it is one of the top three European water parks. Not just water parks! This is the territory of continuous adrenaline happiness. Imagine a hill, equal in height to a ten-story building? Or a pool with three-meter waves? Or a hut with all amenities, where you can take a breath? No? Then go to Siam Park and make sure: there is no limit to pleasure! Entrance €34. Children, according to tradition, half the price
Loro park or parrot park Penguins, sharks, carps, fur seals, killer whales and many other wonderful living creatures coexist with an innumerable number of multi-colored "talkers". You can also visit the zoological garden or go to the cinema (yes, there is one here!). You can watch entertainment shows, practice your balance on hanging ladders or take a picture with a parrot for €8. In general, you will not be bored in the park, even if you plan to spend the whole day here.
Teide Volcano The visiting card of Tenerife, the local "Eiffel Tower", where every tourist who arrives on the island must check in. The highest point of the volcano is four thousand meters. But do not rush to climb to the very top: you will need special permission. A little lower - please! The funicular will gladly give you the pleasure of watching natural beauty eight minutes up. By the way, the dormant half-eye volcano is protected by the state, and it has been given the status of a national park.
Botanical Garden Quiet and quiet place where many species of exotic plants have found shelter. Entrance €3
Pueblo Chico Park In a nutshell - children's delight! Mini-towns with small locals, scenes with the participation of natives, models of the territories and buildings of Tenerife. By the way, there is a whole association of such theme parks throughout Europe. Entry €13

Picturesque places and cities worth visiting

Benijo Beach is a beautiful place, but not for swimming. Wild beach, surrounded by high mountains, more suitable for romantic contemplation of natural views.

The pine forest of Esperanza gives way to fragrant eucalyptus trees. There is a special ethereal aroma here. You can walk through the forest with health benefits for a long time and for free.

The dragon tree in Ikod, which can only be approached for money. No one knows how old this dracaena is and why its juice is red like blood. And in the same place, in a quiet town, there is a butterfly center where you can enjoy communication with winged charmers to your heart's content. Excursions to Igod de los Vinos include free tasting of local wines. Perhaps someone will like this information.

Gomera Island is located thirty kilometers from Tenerife. This is a place that attracts lovers of hiking trails with a backpack on their backs.

The Basilica of Candelaria is a place of pilgrimage for Christians and not only. Here is the sacred sculpture of the Black-faced Madonna, which even Buddhists come to bow to. By the way, many esotericists claim that the Black Madonnas, of which there are not so many found in the whole wide world, have a unique energy that goes beyond the understanding of the Christian religion. Every year on August 14 and 15, pilgrims arrive in Candelaria to visit the Basilica in the rhythm of mass festivities and to the sound of fireworks and bow to the sacred Madonna. In the immediate vicinity of this place, the bronze kings of the island rise majestically - nine sculptures with sad faces. What the former rulers of paradise places grieve about, you can find out by ordering a city tour. To be fair, it should be noted that main temple Tenerife - Cathedral- located in La Laguna. We will probably move on to it.

La Laguna - cultural capital and most Old city Tenerife. Many buildings, which are more than one century old, have been preserved here in their original form. Therefore, UNESCO took the city under its protection. Walking here and there, you will find yourself on the threshold of the convent with the imperishable body of the nun La Servita. At one time, she performed miracles of healing. Further you will find several luxurious palaces, a museum of history and anthropology. Actually, each house in the center of the Laguna has its own curious history.

The official capital of Tenerife is Santa Cruz - a modern bustling city where tourists fly from all over the world. Here, too, there is something to see and where to walk. But the main event of the city is the carnival, which is held every year. This large-scale holiday in terms of the number of participants once got into the Guinness Book of Records. Many tourists come to the island in February-March just to get to this enchanting show.

What else to do on the island?

  • Dive to a depth of thirty meters, sitting in a submarine for €50.
  • Ride in a karting club for €33.
  • Tickle your nerves at a theatrical joust for €48.
  • And, finally, get aesthetic pleasure from the Spanish ballet in the concert hall "Pyramid of Arona" for €50-80.

Beaches

You can swim or sunbathe in Tenerife in any place you like. There are no private, purchased beaches here. There are natural beaches with black sand and artificial ones with light sand. They brought it from Africa. By the way, about her. Do not forget that the Canary Islands are not that far from the equator. And there, if you remember their geography course, well, it's very hot. Therefore, even if clouds are running across the sky of Tenerife, and a light breeze is running through the body, the chances of burning out still remain high. Don't forget protective gear.

Reassuring information for zoophobes:
Walking through the forests of Tenerife, climbing high on the rocks, you will not meet birds of prey or animals, as well as dangerous insects. Sharks and other marine reptiles do not swim to the shores of the ocean. In this regard, everything on the island is quiet, calm and safe even for children. And representatives of the rich are taken to amaze your imagination flora, which bloom here especially beautifully in spring.

On the beach you can ride jet skis, water bikes, bananas, try to catch up with the boat, flying on a parachute (parasailing) for your money. All this will cost €3-50.

Kitchen

Canarian cuisine is a symbiosis of global gastronomic passions that have received a response of approval from the indigenous people. The basis is, of course, Spanish cuisine. But the proximity of Africa could not but affect the "same" taste. Added a couple of "spicy notes" Latin America, where at one time, if you study history, the islanders sailed to work. And the proximity of the ocean with its inhabitants completed the formation of the traditional canarian menu, which you will get your hands on by visiting the restaurant. Oh yes! Not without fast food, of course. A touch of modernity cannot be wiped off the face of the earth, even if you want to relax as a “savage”.

Are you salivating yet? Well, let's get specific:

  • Gofio - bread-not bread, barley dough with a special taste. It can be considered as an independent side dish for meat. And you can even find it in the composition of some dessert.
  • Once in Tenerife, you will definitely get acquainted with Canarian red and green sauces, which are traditionally served here for lunch and dinner.
  • Papas arrugadas are ordinary potatoes boiled in an unusual way. Would you say trite? It is unlikely that papas merchants will agree with you. For one kilogram they usually ask for € 8. What is the secret? In a special kind of potato that looks different and tastes incredible.
  • With fish, everything is clear. There is a lot of it, it is fresh, valued above meat. True, there is one caveat: a truly delicious fish can not be tasted in any well-known restaurant on popular resort. Will have to move farther. For example, the village of Tahao will please fish gourmets and will not ask for a lot of money for it.
  • As meat, you will be offered rabbit, goat, chicken or chicken, beef and pork in various variations from soups to stews.
  • The island has the whole alphabet of fruits and their derivatives. Would you like to try palm honey?
And, of course, cheeses are incomparable. They are usually made from sheep and goat milk.

Transport

You can move around the island, looking into its furthest corners by bus. We strongly advise you to pay for the fare with Bono cards. It will turn out to save up to 50% of the real cost of a one-time trip. You can buy a card for €15-25.

The taxi is a white car with a characteristic "brick" on the roof. It works according to a single tariff and strictly according to the meter: outside the city it is more than one euro, in the city it is half the price. By taxi, you can take a tour of the planned "default" route. The longest eight-hour city tour costs €200.

Car rental

Of course, the most relevant convenient way movement in the Canary Islands is still by car. You can ride it both around Tenerife and look at other islands with the help of a ferry crossing.

How to rent a car and what are the nuances? In principle, everything is simple here, as elsewhere, for example: I took my driving license, a credit card just in case, and an English phrasebook, honestly left alcohol behind the car - and forward, into the wind! Finding a car in Tenerife is not difficult. Such an opportunity appears already upon arrival at the international airport and accompanies to the hotel itself. Please note that the company that lends its car to you must indicate in the contract the existing scratches and minor damage, if any. Otherwise, you will have to pay not for your mistakes. Check if it is possible to raft by car neighboring island. For arbitrariness will again hurt the wallet. The price of the issue for rent depends on the condition of the car, its class, the availability of insurance, a Russian-speaking driver, and all sorts of nuances. If you are going to drive abroad for the first time, it is better to book a car in advance. So that running around in search of the machine itself is not added to all organizational unrest.

So, are you already driving? It's time to remember the rules traffic. They are not much different from Russian ones. It is necessary to let pedestrians through, it is not necessary to talk on a mobile phone while driving, it is not nice to throw cigarette butts out of the window. Drive with your headlights off during the day, turn them on when it's dark. Here are the rules. As for fines, the amounts for speeding are as follows: from € 100 to 600. That is better rules do not violate. Save incredible! There are no problems with gas stations on the island. Gasoline here is no more expensive than in Spain itself: €1.15. Just do not refuel near historical and cultural sites: there, for obvious reasons, the price is inflated.

P.S.

Here it is, the most popular of the Canary Islands. If you're nearby, be sure to come by! See you in Tenerife! ;)

General information about the port

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the capital of the Spanish province of the same name, the island of Tenerife, and one of the two capitals of the Canary Islands. Surrounded by the steep cliffs of the Anaga mountain range, the city lies on the gentle slope of one of the mountains, descending to the harbor of the same name in the northeastern part of the island. The city got its name from the silver Holy Cross of the Conquistadors (Spanish: Holy Cross - Santa Cruz), which Alonso Fernandez de Lugo erected after landing on the coast of Añaso in 1494. In common parlance, the city is called Santa Cruz, despite the fact that there are many cities with this name in the world. The official prefix to the name "de Tenerife" not only distinguishes it from others, but also symbolizes the status of the capital of the island.

Every year, the second most important carnival in the world after Rio de Janeiro is held here, which once even entered the Guinness Book of Records. And there are the main architectural gems of the island - the Auditorio concert hall, the Santa Cruz Towers and the Iglesia de la Concepción Cathedral.

Climate

It is not for nothing that Tenerife is called the “island of eternal spring”: in winter the temperature here does not fall below +20 °C, and in summer it does not rise above +25 °C. The water in the ocean is +20…+22 °C, not higher. The exceptionally mild climate of Tenerife makes it possible to recommend rest on the island even to people of mature age, including those suffering from cardiovascular diseases.

Auditorio de Tenerife

This futuristic dome is one of the most impressive buildings in Spanish architecture. A work of architecture made of concrete and metal is even depicted on national postage stamps. The opening of the Auditorio was attended by the heir to the royal throne of Spain. Inside there are two halls - symphony and chamber. The main hall impresses with its size: the stage is 17 meters high, the depth of the orchestra pit is 14. Music lovers will appreciate the effect of "sound around". The Small Hall practically copies the "big brother" and differs only in scale. Recently, the Palmetum was built nearby - a palm botanical garden with five hundred varieties of palms, which borders on a complex of pools built a little earlier with ocean water on the coast.

Church of the Iglesia de la Concepción

The only church in the Canary Islands with five naves. The church was built on the site of the first chapel built by the Spanish conquistadors after they landed in Tenerife. The high bell tower allows you to notice it from afar, and, moreover, for a very long time. Although it is contrary to Catholic rules, the church is popularly called the "Cathedral of Santa Cruz". After all, it is the main temple of the capital of the island, and it houses the shrine of the same name - the cross that laid the foundation of the city. In architectural terms, the temple is considered a mixture of Tuscan style and Baroque.

Plaza de la Candelaria

This is the front square of the "light-bearing" patroness of the Canary Islands. On it rises the marble monument "Triumph of Candelaria", depicting the Mother of God, before the pedestal of which four leaders of the Guanches bowed (they went over to the side of the Spaniards during the conquest of the islands). An interesting architectural ensemble around the square is formed by the Tenerife government building, the Museum of Archeology and Anthropology, and the Baroque Churches of the Immaculate Conception and St. Francis. On the left side stands the palace of Rodriguez Carta, built in the 17th century (today it houses the office of the bank). It is worth at least five minutes to run into the palace building to see the luxurious courtyard with stairs and dark wood verandas.

black castle

This is one of the oldest attractions in Santa Cruz. San Juan Bautista Castle (named after John the Baptist), built in 1641, is also known as the Black Castle. Located in the heart of the city, this powerful fort with a massive round tower, parapets and loopholes for five artillery pieces played a crucial role in protecting against invaders. Every year in July, it hosts a reenactment of the Battle of Santa Cruz, during which the legendary British admiral Horatio Nelson was defeated while attempting to invade the city.

The beaches of Santa Cruz de Tenerife

In close proximity to the city there are two magnificent beaches: Taganana with volcanic black sand, common for these places, and the only yellow sand beach in Tenerife - Las Teresitas, one of the most popular beaches in the archipelago. This is a one and a half kilometer artificial beach, to which yellow sand from the African Sahara was brought by barges in the 1970s to replace the local black volcanic origin. There are several diving centers around Santa Cruz de Tenerife suitable for divers of all skill levels. Also in Tenerife you can go surfing, windsurfing and other water sports sports. In the local waters there are beautiful coral reefs.

shopping

Many tourists come to Santa Cruz de Tenerife for shopping - the capital of the Canary Islands is firmly entrenched in the fame of a "shopping paradise". There are especially many shops, shops and boutiques on Plaza La Candelaria and the pedestrian street Calle de Castillo, perpendicular to the square. In the Mercado de Nuestra Señora de Africa city market, located on San Sebastian Street, you can buy fruits, vegetables, flowers and, mainly, spices. The covered market, which looks like a spacious courtyard decorated with arches, is not at all like a European one and attracts tourists with its exoticism.

Loro Park

Loro Parque is a world-famous animal park worth a visit even if you come to the island without children. The main living creatures here are 4000 species of parrots (after which the park is named). Killer whales (predatory dolphins) live in a large aquarium, penguins live in a huge aquarium with ice blocks (it is believed that the penguinarium in Loro Parque is one of the largest in the world), and passing through the built-in transparent tunnel, you can see stingrays swimming overhead, sharks and tropical fish. A full-fledged zoo occupies the rest of the territory: gorillas, jaguars, tigers and turtles live in large pavilions. Be sure to visit the exciting shows that take place throughout the day.

Medieval Castle of San Miguel

This is the real one medieval castle. And immersion in the Middle Ages will also be real. At the entrance to the castle of San Miguel, visitors are given a cape of a certain color - which color they got, which of the knights you need to root for. Guests are escorted through the armory, where each will be greeted by the king. After that, they find themselves in the hall where the tournament is held. Six brave knights are fighting for the title of the very best, but the one who has the loudest support group will win: you can not limit yourself in showing emotions. This will be facilitated by an unlimited amount of red and white wine, issued in iron mugs. After the tournament, lunch awaits - chicken soup, which must be eaten without utensils. Immersion in the era, what do you want?

Old town of La Laguna

Historical Center San Cristobal La Laguna consists of many quarters built up hundreds of years ago with houses, churches and noble mansions. This part of the city has been perfectly preserved to this day, and the entire Old Town of La Laguna has been declared world heritage UNESCO. Almost every building has its own name and history. Many sights of La Laguna are associated with the name of its founder, the Spanish conquistador Alonso de Lugo. It is best to see the Canarian architecture with traditional wrought-iron fences and facades, and at the same time feel the colonial atmosphere while walking along the old streets with cobbled pavements and cozy nooks of green courtyards.

Rocks of Los Gigantes

The steep cliffs of Los Gigantes (Rocks of the Giants) are located on the west coast of Tenerife. In fact, they belong to mountain range Teno, which itself is the western slope of the Teide volcano. Sheer stone walls 10 kilometers long and up to 600 meters high are a truly amazing sight! Many tourists experience a real catharsis here, feeling the full power of the universe. No wonder the local Guanches called these hills the "Walls of Hell" and believed that the world ends here. Like many things in Tenerife, the cliffs of Los Gigantes are the highest in all of Spain.

Excursion to the Teide volcano

Traveling to the foot of the dormant Teide volcano has long been a must for all guests of the island. Once having been here, I want to come back here again and again. By scenic road, passing through dense pine forests and mountain villages, you will rise above the clouds, stop at several observation platforms above the clouds, where you can enjoy the dizzying view of the “sea of clouds of the white plain” below for hours. Then you will find yourself among amazing volcanic landscapes - these are rivers of solidified lava, lunar valleys, rocks of various shapes and colors that have turned into heroes of local legends. Teide is located in the center of the crater of the ancient volcano "Las Cañadas", and the entire area around it is declared a National Park and is the largest reserve of the Canary Islands.
