Phan rang vietnam description. The great journey of the four Belyaevs. The road from Nha Trang to Phan Rang on the map of Vietnam

The resort is located in southern Vietnam on the coast East Sea roughly halfway between the two known seaside resorts Nha Trang and Mui Ne. The climate of Phan Rang is tropical, monsoonal. Its feature is a longer dry season than in other parts of southern Vietnam. The average annual temperature is 27 C. Seasonal fluctuations in air temperature are small. The dry season lasts from mid-December to mid-June. Moderate breezes often blow along the coast, softening the heat.

Phanrang is calm city, it has little foreign tourists and little entertainment. The main beach of the resort is Ninh Chu with a gentle slope into the water and golden sand. 30 km south of Phan Rang is Cana Beach (Ca Na) with good conditions for snorkeling (shallow, lots of corals). In the vicinity of this beach, the hot springs of Vinh Hao beat out of the ground with mineral water distributed throughout Vietnam. Another source, Krong Pha, is also located in the Kana Beach area on Mount Hon Ba. It was discovered back in 1923 by the French Blonel. Except mineral water the source contains therapeutic mud. The third well-known source of hot mineral water is located halfway from Phan Rang to Da Lat. It is called Tan Son and helps in the treatment of joints, skin diseases, and the gastrointestinal tract. Vinh Hy Bay is located 40 km north of the center of Phan Rang, which is closed from the sea, so there is always less excitement here. The water in the bay is clear, it has a blue tint, the beach is sandy. Nearby is the border of the Nui Chua nature reserve. From the seashore, including even from the beach, you can get a good catch of sea fish with a bait. It is also a good place for diving. For tourists, excursions are made on a boat with a transparent bottom so that you can admire the underwater world. From August to December, it is windy in Vinh Hy Bay, so at this time it is better to go kiting or windsurfing here, rather than the usual beach holiday. The new resort of Long Thuan is located in Vinh Hy Bay.

Attractions
The main attractions of Phan Rang are Cham towers. The first complex, called Poklongarai, is located 7 km northwest of Phan Rang. It is an ensemble of three towers built at the end of the 13th century by the Cham people, when their own Champa kingdom, independent of Vietnam, still existed. This complex was named after one of the Cham rulers, Poklongaray, who, according to legend, did a lot for his people, in particular, organized the construction of an irrigation system. The towers stand on Chau Hill, which translates as "betel". The main tower was intended for prayers and sacrifices, the Gate Tower was a guest tower, and the Fire Tower was used as a kitchen. The towers have a block-modular design. They were made of dark red bricks from local soil. The bricks were glued together with a gel from local plants. During their existence, these structures were destroyed by almost half, and in the 20th century they were restored.
Thap Ba Complex(second name Hoa Lai) is located near the national highway No. 1A, 14 km north of Phan Rang. It also previously included three towers, however main tower collapsed. This complex is even older than Poklongarai: it was built at the beginning of the 9th century, and therefore has a different style. Remaining North and south tower but not yet restored.
Bau village Chuck is located a few kilometers from Phan Rang. The villagers have been making pottery for several centuries. This village is believed to be the oldest pottery center in the whole South-East Asia, even older than the "ceramic villages" in northern Vietnam. However, the local dishes produced at that time were artistically different from the Vietnamese ones.

Phan Rang is not as primitive as it might seem to a tourist who got to the resort, who may not even be offered a tourist card. It is not in this moment in stores. (???) There are resorts along the beach stretching for several kilometers, and across the road there are quite good hotels at a price of $ 15-18 (if with breakfast). After a detailed inspection of the resorts, I was convinced that the best territory is 8 GK the best balance in the restaurant price-quality, the best pool and bungalows on the first line is still at the resort LONG THUAN ***. The resort has many useful things, such as a hairdryer, except for bicycles. Is it really a pity for money? I took the Menu from the restaurant to the room and I will translate it into Russian and leave it for future guests. By the way, the sea is clean, the beach is clean and no foreign objects are visible. forcing the eyes to fumble around the buildings surrounding the courtyard in search of a face watching you from behind a translucent curtain. Of course, this is a maid of a wealthy French official, looking at a rare visitor who happened to be in her field of vision.

And there was this

Phan Rang City (Vietnam) is the administrative center of the southeastern province of Ninh Thuan. Among other things, it is young, but already quite famous resort, which, however, is not yet popular with Russians. Most likely, this is due to insufficient advertising by travel agencies of the benefits of Phan Rang among domestic lovers of recreation in tropical latitudes.

A few words about the city

Phan Rang Resort (Vietnam) is located on the shores of the South China Sea, somewhere in the middle between Nha Trang and Mui Ne. At the moment, its population is about 180 thousand people. Official name consists of two words "Phanrang" and "Thapcham". Of these, the first, official part is of historical origin, and the second is Cham, and is associated with the indigenous people who have inhabited these places since ancient times.

In terms of the development of urban infrastructure, Phan Rang is not inferior to even more densely populated settlements Vietnam. You can always call a taxi there, there is Wi-Fi, excellent roads, and in recent years many beautiful modern buildings have been built.

Story

Before going into detail about historical monuments and other interesting objects, which are worth seeing for tourists coming to these places, it is worth telling briefly about its history.

The towers are located on Chau Hill. According to historians, in the old days they were used for sacrifices and prayers. The Gate Tower was most likely a guest tower, and the Fire Tower was used as a kitchen. These structures have a block-modular design. They are made of bricks made from local blood-red soil, glued together with a special vegetable gel. Over the 7 centuries of its existence, the buildings collapsed to half, and in the last century they were restored.

Thap Ba or Hoa Lai

The second complex of towers is located next to highway N 1A, 14 km north of Phan Rang. It previously also included 3 towers, but the main tower collapsed. The building is ancient, Poklongaraya, as it has existed since the 9th century and, from an architectural point of view, was built in a completely different style.

Porome Tower

This building is much younger than the others and was built only in the 17th century. According to the researchers, during this period there was a decline in the arts, so Porom is less picturesque and has a more modest decor than the rest of the Cham towers. In general, tourists interested in architecture are advised to see all such structures located in the vicinity of Phan Rang in order to imagine the evolution of this art form in Vietnam over 6 centuries.

Ethnographic excursion

15 km from Phan Rang is a craft village. Its inhabitants have been known for centuries for the manufacture of ceramic dishes. It is believed that this village is the oldest center for the production of such products in Southeast Asia. At the same time, the ceramics created there are not at all similar to dishes from other regions of Vietnam and differ both in shape and decor.

Church

At Hải Thượng Lãn Ông, Đông Hải Vietnam, Phan Rang, there is a Catholic church in the resort. It is active and stands out from the background of other buildings of the city. The church was built in the 19th century in the French style, and in front of its entrance you can see a painted statue of Christ with outstretched arms.

Phan Rang vineyards

Vineyards are a natural attraction of the resort. In general, this berry is practically not cultivated in Vietnam due to its humid climate, but Phan Rang is an exception. They make grape wine there, and in the middle of summer they hold the Ninh Thuan festival dedicated to this drink. So, before those who come to Vietnam in the middle of summer, Phan Rang will cease in the status of the wine capital of Southeast Asia. This means that they will become spectators of various festive processions, tastings and folk festivals.

Beach

Phan Rang is quite remote from beach line, so tourists who stay in hotels located in the city itself will have to travel about 3.5 km to get to Ninh Chu city beach. They can walk there, rent a bike or car, or take a taxi. In the first case, the journey will take about 20 minutes. However, all the inconvenience will more than pay off. pleasant vacation Ning Chu, which stretches along the entire coastline. It is one of the attractions of Phan Rang and will especially appeal to lovers of secluded and a relaxing holiday. The beach is covered with white fine sand, it has a gentle slope into the sea and even in the "high season" you will not see crowds of tourists on it. As for the infrastructure, it is much more modest than in the more popular resorts of Vietnam. It offers vacationers, several cafes and restaurants where you can have a bite to eat and quench your thirst. There is no other entertainment for children or adults there.

Nui Chua National Park

Vinhy Bay is located 40 km north of the resort center, closed from the sea. The water in the bay is clear and has a blue tint. The beach itself is sandy and very picturesque. Not far from it is the border national park New Chua. You can fish there, so those who like to sit with a fishing rod should rent tackle and go fishing, best of all by renting a boat. In addition, the reserve is a good place for diving, and trips on a boat with a transparent bottom are regularly organized for tourists so that you can admire the underwater world. It should be noted that from August to December it is quite windy in Vinh Hy Bay, so during this period it is better to go windsurfing or kiting there.

Phan Rang City, Vietnam: Hours, Address, Phan Rang Reviews: 4.5/5

The first thing tourists who come to this resort pay attention to is the beach. As already mentioned, it is clean, well-groomed and well-appointed. Judging by the reviews of the guests of Fanraga, at first they are afraid of the color of the water in the sea, but all doubts disappear when they see that it is transparent and clean. Tourists are pleased with the prices in stores, which may seem ridiculous, as well as the abundance of fish restaurants where you can enjoy freshly caught seafood. As for negative reviews, they are relatively few and they relate to the lack of entertainment facilities in the immediate vicinity of the hotels.

Phan Rang is a resort where you can organize a wonderful beach holiday for most of the year, and located there historical monuments and unique natural objects will make it even more interesting.

Phan Rang is not at all popular among foreigners, compared to another resort in Vietnam, Nha Trang. There are not many hotels and restaurants here, no shopping centers and just a couple of travel agencies. At the same time, the plague called “to fool the tourist” has not yet come to the city, here they do not rip off bags on the streets and do not steal things on the beach.

The last time we were in Phan Rang was a long time ago and we were not going to write new posts about this Vietnamese resort at all. But there are still no adequate reviews about Phan Rang on the web, so after looking up the archives and asking our blog readers who have recently been in this town, we wrote an essay about the city, focusing on the beach, because the beach is one of the most important components of the holiday.

How to get to Phan Rang

  1. Then by train, bus, plane or rented motorbike.
  • Ho Chi Minh-Phan Rang train (7 hours on the way, there are night trains);
  • , then bus Nha Trang-Phan Rang;
  • Bus from Ho Chi Minh to Nha Trang, then bus from Nha Trang to Phan Rang.

How to get to the beach

If you looked at the map at the beginning of the post, you noticed that many of the objects we marked are quite far from the beach. And this is one of the disadvantages of resting in Phan Rang - the city is located 3.5 from the coastline. To get to the shore you need to either walk or rent a bike or take a taxi or ride with a motorbike.

  • Walking to the beach is not difficult if you are not afraid scorching sun and heat +25 +32. Sidewalks are good and wide. From time to time the sidewalks disappear, but it is not difficult to walk along the carriageway, the roads are half empty.
  • You can rent a bike in the region of VND 120,000 per day; you don’t need a license when renting. The police rarely stop.
  • You can use or motorbike. There is almost always a meter in a taxi, you need to agree on a price with a motorbike in advance and always actively bargain.

There are only a few hotels, cafes and restaurants near the beach, and not the best ones. For example, a Russian restaurant with the proud name "Pushkin" is the height of bad taste. How one could call a barn with chairs and tables Pushkin, I do not know, but the fact remains.

Most often this place is visited by drinkers from the early morning (passing by we often noticed glasses of vodka at 8 in the morning on the tables of visitors) and women with children. Ordinary travelers eat in local cafes and restaurants that are not located near the beach, where prices are more adequate and drunks, sorry, no :)

Right on the beach there are several good hotels who clean the shore adjacent to their territory. They usually clean once every 2-3 days. These sections of the beach are more or less clean, comfortable, there are sunbeds, umbrellas, and in some places even showers. Nice places to stay.

Right on the beach there are such Phan Rang hotels as Gold Rooster Resort, Aniise Villa Resort, Bau Truc Resort, etc.

Where there are no hotels, there is no cleanliness. Coconuts, sticks, leaves and other natural debris lie imposingly on the shore, no one cleans them up.

But it's not all bad, really. Here you can find good stretches of the beach, do not be discouraged. Phan Rang is a semi-wild resort in Vietnam, but our reviews about it are still more than positive, because we love unpromoted, cozy resorts that still have everything ahead, looking at which in 5 years you can say “And I remember how here instead of there was a mountain of coconuts lying around the restaurant, but here, instead of tourist boats, broken fishing boats once moored. Romance:)

Hotels, restaurants, cafes are being built. There is a park near the beach, but no one walks in it.

Once we decided to go for the weekend to the resort town of Phan Rang, 100 km away, approximately halfway between Nha Trang and the second Vietnamese favorite among Russians. Since the distance is rather short and the road runs mainly along the coast, it was a common decision to go there by bike, especially since there were several interesting places where we were planning to visit.

Our path ran through Cam Ranh, where we turned into the local landmark Temple of Shells (Chua Tu Van) and made a short detour to visit the beautiful and little-known Pearl Beach (read about these sights here).

The city has a double name Phan Rang-Thapcham: the second part pays tribute to the local indigenous people - the Chams. Once the city was one of the main in the ancient kingdom of Champa.

By modern standards, the town is very small and so calm that we got bored on the second day. It is good to spend a week here in a good resort on the coast, tired of the bustle of the city. But if you want not only a beach holiday, but also all kinds of entertainment, then there is nothing to do in Phan Rang.

Beach in Phan Rang

Phan Rang main beach Ninh Chu stretches along the entire coast. The beach itself is not bad, but there is no infrastructure on it. No sun loungers, no umbrellas, no cafes on the beach, there are practically no people. Only a few equipped sites belonging to a small number of expensive hotels. The rest of the beach is deserted.

There is another one 30 km from Phan Rang canna beach, which is famous for its good conditions for snorkeling (snorkeling), but we decided not to go there due to time constraints.

Attractions Phan Rang

Not far from the same beach there is hot mineral springs Vinh Hao, but we, spoiled by the mud baths of Nha Trang and did not even want to go there.

Beyond the hot mineral springs, there are practically no attractions in Phan Rang. The city is famous only for its Cham towers (remains ancient civilization Chams are located in several places near the city) and the craft village of Bau Chuk, where you can see how all kinds of products are molded from clay.

A map of all the attractions of Phan Rang, hanging at the entrance to the Cham Tower Po Klon Garay

Impressed, we decided to visit the Cham towers Po Klong Garai (Po Klong Garai Cham Tower) in Phan Rang, located 8 km from the city.

It's beautiful here, the towers make an impression. But it still seems that they are larger and more interesting.

A long staircase leads to the hill with the Cham towers.

Sit on the steps of history

There is also a small museum of Cham culture: Other Phan Rang Cham Tower Po Ro Me Cham Tower located 24 km from the city at the entrance to the city. Unlike the first complex, this is a single tower.

On the outskirts of Phan Rang (towards Nha Trang) on the mountain there is a beautiful Buddhist pagoda (on the map it is marked as Miếu Khánh Sơn). It does not belong to the attractions of Phan Rang, we did not find any mention of it on the Internet, but I would advise you to visit this spiritual temple.

It is very calm, peaceful and non-tourist here. You can see the life of the monks who live, work and pray here. The life of a monk is not only prayer, for example, in this temple they themselves carve bricks for buildings and pave paths from huge boulders:

It is easy to notice this place by the large white Buddha statue on the mountain:

What else to see in Phan Rang

We walked a bit around the city and along the promenade. Nothing special to see, but we found abandoned resort Hoan Cau where it was interesting to walk:

Until recently, this hotel received visitors and was known: in the guidebooks we found recommendations for visiting this place with children - there was beautiful park with cartoon characters. Today the hotel is closed, the characters remained, but they look sad.

The only thing that is open in this once-chic hotel is a cafe-buffet, where the security guard invites everyone passing by.

Speaking of cafes in Phan Rang, we really liked the small local sea food cafes right on the beach. The prices here are low, and it is very pleasant to sit on the beach in the evening listening to the sound of the surf!

Phan Rang (Vietnam) Hotels

There are very few hotels in Phan Rang. If you want to spend your holidays in peace and serenity, you can choose one of the resorts on the beach:

We have chosen more a budget option and lived not in the city itself, but 6 km from it, in Minh Duc Guest House - Ninh Chu Beach in a room costing $16 per night.

The hotel turned out to be a good family guesthouse, the owners were nice and pleasant people. It's a very quiet place, but we really enjoyed it. a large number of beach cafes with seafood within minutes.

A crab that recently ran along this very beach

Standard Vietnamese fisherman's dinner near the catch

There were also several other cafes not far from this hotel, in which we even found.

Perhaps in the future Phan Rang will become popular resort. But while walking along the embankment, we had the strong impression that Phan Rang is a ghost town, there are so few people here now.

How to get to Phan Rang

We rode from Nha Trang on a bike, and with a child. We stopped and rested several times. The road left a rather pleasant impression, so we boldly recommend this method of transportation.

You can also take a bus from Nha Trang to Phanh Thiet. The ticket price is 100 thousand dong ($ 4.5).
