Why are apartments more attractive than hotels?

Rent an apartment or a hotel? This question is not easy, so each is ultimately determined independently, depending on individual preferences. We will only consider the advantages of apartments in comparison with hotels of a similar class. Of course, capital hostels allow you to save as much as possible, but the conditions created in them can hardly be called comfortable. That's why this species we will not consider real estate.

If you are thinking about the question of whether to rent a room or an apartment for a day, you should know that with an equal level of comfort, private real estate is characterized by the following advantages:

  • more reasonable cost
  • presence of a kitchen
  • the presence of a washing machine and other household appliances.

The modern apartments are designed or renovated, they have a cozy atmosphere and everything you need for life. In addition to the fact that such a rental will cost less than a similar hotel room, having your own kitchen will save on food, eliminating the need to visit restaurants or cafes. In hotels, laundry services are paid, and the presence of a washing machine in the apartment will allow you to refresh things and not spend money on it.

In addition, in modern apartments, tenants will be offered slippers, bathrobes, bed linen, personal hygiene items. This means that you won't need to take them with you, which will make your luggage much easier. The owners of the apartments tried to create cozy home conditions for the residents, characterized by an increased level of comfort. You can rent such a property at any time you need.

Hello, my name is Alexey and I have not been living in hotels for 4 years. Unless in extreme cases, when there is no choice or the inviting party provides it. Arriving in some city, I just rent a cool apartment in the very center and go for a walk. But it wasn't like that before.

I was looking for a hotel in the very center, I was crazy about the price of a room per night and booked a rooming house of 8 sq.m. on the outskirts. And this continued until I started renting apartments for rent. She took off one, then another. And then there was no stopping me. Four years of exciting trips flew by like one in rented apartments. I had a lot of them and they were all different: beautiful, scary, with large rooms and small ones, new, old, on the first floor, on the last, in Arzamas, in Nizhny, in Kazan, in Budapest, in Tbilisi, in Yaroslavl, in Vologda, in Moscow, in Perm, in Minsk, in Brest, in Ryazan, in Prague, in Budva, in Arkhangelsk, in Yoshkar-Ola and other cities, whose names I don’t even remember anymore.

Even 4 years ago, I had only one, but persistent association with an apartment for rent - a viper. I must say right away that in some cases, this, unfortunately, is true. If you rent an apartment based on an ad in a newspaper or at a bus stop, then in 90% of cases you will rent a viper. To avoid this and generally stop being afraid of rented apartments, I will tell you how to do it right. And why apartments are better and more profitable than hotels.

1. Room area

The first reason why you should prefer a daily apartment to a hotel is living space. For the same price in the case of a hotel, you will get a one-room suite that can fit a couple of beds, bedside tables, a table and a TV. Whether business the whole apartment with two and three rooms! Regardless of the number of beds, the apartment is fully rented. If you want space - take off the "three-ruble note" and run along it. If you are traveling with a large company, take off a three-ruble note and sit all night at one large table in the kitchen!

2. Price

The cost of housing is directly related to its capacity. Probably, all of you are aware of how prices differ for single, double, triple and quadruple rooms in hotels. The last two types are rarely found in free form, and your large company or family is offered to break into free "kopeck pieces" and "odnushki", which can significantly hit the wallet. The cost of renting a large apartment is not much different from the cost of a small one. According to my experience, the average price of a spacious and comfortable "kopeck piece" for 4-6 beds in Russia jumps around 2000-3000 rubles per day. Dividing this by the number of residents, we get 500 rubles per person.

500 rubles is the most low price for a bed in run-down hotels like these:

And everywhere this magic figure is 500 rubles per bed-night. Russian tariff, however. For example, here are hotels in the same Nizhny Novgorod.

For comparison, here are a few apartments for the same price:

Two-room apartment on Tverskaya street, 5A Nizhny Novgorod. For 2550 rubles per day. 4 beds.

Two-room apartment on Volkova street, 6 in Yaroslavl. For 1900 rubles per day. 4 beds.

3. Location

As I wrote before, I like to stay as close to the city center as possible. When I arrive in another city, I usually get very tired by car. After a long road, I want to flow out from behind the wheel, close it with a lock and no longer approach it until the morning. After that, walk to the river or the sea, sit with light alcohol in a cafe and then crawl to bed in a half-asleep state. Hotels in this location usually have big, beautiful names and cost a lot of money. And from more modest hotels to the city center you will already have to get on public transport. Taxi, of course, is also an option, but why?

Why, if there are a lot of apartments for rent in the city center? People specifically buy apartments in the center not to live in them, sniffing the exhaust gases and listening to the "roar of the cosmodrome", but to rent them out. For the same 2-3 thousand, you can rent a beautiful apartment on the top floor of a high-rise building, with a wonderful view of the river, mountains, park or sea. For example, as in Naberezhnye Chelny (even if it is not quite the center).

4. Choice

How many hotels can there be in a city? On average, a couple of dozen. Small one or two. And the bill of apartments goes into the hundreds. There is always a choice. Busy one, free the other. Didn't like one, chose another. Using special apartment rental services, you can generally choose apartments on the city map, given the proximity to the sea, river, promenade, tavern or Lenin monument.
How bigger city, the more offers for daily rent of apartments, the higher the competition, the more adequate and stable prices. Paradox, but in a large and beautiful city, where there is something to see, apartment prices are lower than in the half-dead Russian outback. For example, in Vyazma, apparently, there is only one landlord who owns all 5 rented apartments presented on the Sutochno.ru service :) Accordingly, low quality and high cost.

And here is the two-room apartment we rented last year in Perm for 2,000 rubles:

We were even photographed for the section "Our dear guests" :)

5. Living environment

I have not seen a single hotel with a washing machine and iron in the room. If you need to do laundry, you can order laundry services for a fee. In many daily apartments, it is normal to have a complete set of household appliances: washing machines, hair dryers, irons, boards, microwave ovens, huge refrigerators, ovens, hobs, air conditioners. In one fancy three-room apartment in Minsk, at 4B Skryganova Street, one large LCD panel hung in each of the three rooms, and a fourth flat-screen TV hung in the kitchen. Too bad it wasn't in the bathroom. And then from the hydromassage it would be convenient to watch. We paid 3500 rubles for it and celebrated the birthday of our youngest traveler in it :)

In a small-to-mid-budget hotel, at best, there will be a TV, a hairdryer and a small refrigerator.

6. Immersion in the atmosphere and local flavor

Living in a city in a hotel is like swimming in seaside resort in the pool, not reaching two steps to the sea. If you want to smell the real life of a city that is new to you, find out what the locals breathe and eat, rent an apartment in a residential area. Walk to the local "Magnet", stock up on local beer, local sausage, sour cream, milk, try fresh local pastries. Oh, what a wonderful and cheap oil in Vologda! In Ulyanovsk it is 3 times more expensive and we don't buy it here. In Prague, there was an absinthe store right under the apartment, in Arzamas there was a New Year tree in the courtyard and the residents danced there, in Ryazan, from the window, you could see the railway station, which I passed by 1000 times on the Ulyanovsk-Moscow route, in Tbilisi I was a classic inner courtyard of the old city with linen and curious neighbors, and in Livadia there was a garage under the apartment where I parked the car. An indescribable delight from the taste of local life! From the first turn of the key in the keyhole you start to feel like a local resident :)

2-room apartment in Minsk on Yesenina, 16. For 2100 rubles per day. A perfect example of the ideality of a rented apartment and the responsiveness of the hostess.

7. Nutrition

When renting an apartment, you can save a lot on food by buying groceries at the nearest supermarket and cooking your own food on the stove.

1-room apartment in Smolensk on Normandia-Neman street, 7A. For 1800 rubles per day for 4 guests.

2-room apartment in Minsk on Yesenina, 16. For 2100 rubles per day.

8. Pleasant little things

Some apartment owners have already begun to adopt some of the things familiar to hotels. For example, a minibar in the refrigerator. You check in late at night and you don’t have to run anywhere for beer and chips - everything is on the shelves. Disposable slippers, hygiene kits are not new.

"Full stuffing" in the bathroom of an apartment in Nizhny Novgorod, for 3000 rubles. per day.

Or figuratively stacked towels on the bed. A trifle, but nice.

Two-room apartment with a living room in Vologda, on Leningradskaya, 136. For 3000 rubles. per day.

How cool everything is! Tomorrow we are leaving for the sea and now we will only stay in apartments!

But don't rush... There are a couple of little things you should be prepared for:

Disadvantages and nuances

1. The first, from which there is no escape - cleaning. More precisely, its absence. In a daily rented apartment, they usually clean 2 times: before your arrival and after. If you plan to stay there for long term then the cleaning is up to you. But, as a rule, they do not live in such apartments for more than a week, and most often - a day or two.

Bathrooms in Minsk and Nizhny Novgorod apartments for 2,000 and 3,000 rubles, respectively.

2. The second trifle is not a trifle at all, but an essential nuance that is quite common in Russia - dishonesty of landlords. Especially Kazan.

It consists in the fact that having booked a hotel in advance, you do not receive a guarantee that you will move into it. Kazan tenants are very fond of "pleasing" you with the news when they meet that your apartment has not yet been vacated, but you will now be offered an equivalent or even the best option for the same price. And they bring them to the homeless on the outskirts. This happened to me several times and it was in Kazan. Even full prepayment may not help.

How to deal with it?

The market for daily rent of apartments in Russia is slowly but surely becoming civilized. In this case, all kinds of services for the selection of apartments serve as a teacher. You can choose and book an apartment abroad on the airbnb.com website, where both the tenant and the landlord are trying to maintain and improve their reputation. In Russia, there is also a similar service - Daily.ru. Its database contains about 80,000 apartments throughout Russia, neighboring countries and even Montenegro.

How does he work:

  • Set the city and search filter by dates and number of residents.

  • From the search results, using sorting by price, reviews or by map, choose an apartment.

  • Read reviews from previous guests.

  • You press the booking button, contact the owner on the site and make an advance payment, which remains with the service.

  • You come to the apartment, move in and live.

  • Do not forget to leave a review on the website of the service for future travelers :)

In case you are not satisfied with something upon check-in, you through mobile app or by calling the Sutochno.ru hotline, cancel the reservation and then:

  • The deposit is returned to you.

  • The landlord receives a fine and negative feedback, which lowers him in the search.

  • Sutochno.ru support helps you quickly choose another option. I was in their office - there are always a lot of people on the phones.

If in doubt, here is everything in detail. In general, the guys are fighting with such cunning landlords. The stronger the authority of the service, the more unscrupulous landlords will value their reputation. AirBnB has already brought up its own - you can’t spoil it there: just a little, and get out of the profession.

And one more rule that should be observed when using such services for daily rent of apartments: never contact the landlord directly, bypassing the service. Otherwise, if you are thrown, then no one will help you. Keep a history of correspondence and transfer an advance payment through a service that will act as a third party in a dispute. If the landlord does not respond to the booking request for a long time, just forget about this apartment and do not call the owner by direct phone. There is a high probability that such an owner will provide you with another apartment upon arrival, of worse quality, and you will not prove anything. And always read reviews :)

Happy travels and beautiful apartments!

Perhaps, if a person did not rent housing for a short time, he does not know anything about daily rent apartments. Today, the daily rental market is quite developed and it is not difficult to get information about it, including one can see obvious differences between renting a hotel room and renting an apartment.

Before you go on a trip, you need to carefully check everything, think it over, find out so as not to get into a mess. Of course, some tourists prefer to stay in a hotel. Such a residence has its own positive sides. Let's talk about them:

1. For a woman, staying in a hotel provides an opportunity to take a break from everyday problems and pay more attention to herself, her appearance, while relaxing in bars, restaurants, cafes, or visiting a beauty salon.
2. The advantage of staying in a hotel is the presence of security both at the main entrance and on each hotel floor. In addition, cameras are installed in the premises of the building to ensure the safety of guests.
3. The presence in some hotels of business centers that provide the opportunity to use various computer equipment, as well as high-quality Internet, which is very convenient for business trips, businessmen and just active people who like to spend a lot of time on the World Wide Web.
4. In addition, large hotels are provided for active rest and keeping the body in a healthy shape beauty salon, fitness club, entertainment centers, clubs, shops.

In addition to some advantages of staying in a hotel, there are also disadvantages:

1. Wherever you go, strangers always come across your eyes, studying you and often wanting to get to know you. For a person who prefers to relax in solitude, peace and quiet, as well as for guests staying at the hotel confidentially, strangers and communication with them is completely undesirable and creates unnecessary inconvenience.

2. Another disadvantage of hotel accommodation is the high cost of rooms and lack of availability in most cases. Why is there such a discrepancy? Visitors go to the hotel, because they do not know other places where they can settle down. For this reason, finding a free room in hotel buildings is not at all easy. What is the conclusion? Definitely, such issues need to be resolved in advance, even before the trip.

3. You can also add to the above-described disadvantages of hotel accommodation the inconvenience that residents experience if they need to drink coffee, tea or simply eat sandwiches throughout the day. After all, there are no household appliances in the hotel rooms. In addition to her absence, the hotel administration strictly forbids storing food and eating food in the rooms.

4. Probably each of us, staying at a hotel, experienced problems associated with visiting guests. It has always been in hotels, is and will be! You cannot be visited after twenty-three hours, as well as your friends and acquaintances who do not have a passport with them, in no case will security let them through.

What is the difference between short-term accommodation in daily rented apartment from hotel or hotel?

1. In a rented apartment, the owners change less often, so the tenants do not feel as if they are in a state-owned atmosphere.

2. Each homeowner is a designer for himself, so the apartment interior is always different from the hotel interior and provides its residents with comfort, as well as a feeling of home.

3. In a rented apartment, there is always the opportunity to cook food, make tea, coffee. In addition to the advantages of having an equipped kitchen, residents have the opportunity to listen to music loudly and watch TV. Of course, you can walk on your head, but do not forget about the neighbors and the responsibility for disturbing the public order after twenty-three hours. Otherwise, you can get acquainted with the guardians of the law and get a fine. Unwanted neighbors with ears and eyes, as well as a desire to talk, are everywhere, but living in a rented apartment makes it possible to maintain confidentiality, due to the fact that you can not see the neighbors.

4. Take-off advantage daily apartment unlike the hotel, the hotel also consists in the possibility of free visits to guests without any restrictions in time, their number, frequency of visits made to you and documents in your pocket. The main thing is that the neighbors do not complain!

5. Apartments for daily rent are located in different parts of the city, while hotel buildings are located mainly in its central part. Thanks to this difference, a visiting tourist can always choose a convenient microdistrict for living, without focusing on the central part of the city.

6. One of the main distinguishing advantages of apartments rented by the day is their rather low price compared to paying for a hotel room. Please note that the daily payment for a rented apartment is set regardless of the number of people living with you.

7. The daily rented apartment has a separate bathroom, all furniture and household appliances necessary for living, while in inexpensive hotel rooms for guests there is a shower on the floor, in the room there is a bed, a table and a bedside table.

Highlighting the shortcomings of rental housing for daily rent, you need to dwell on high level security due to the lack of equipment in all houses with intercoms, metal-plastic windows, and metal doors. In addition, concierges are not everywhere. The downside of daily rented housing is that in most cases it is impossible to put vehicles near a rented apartment. Unlike them, the territory of the hotels is equipped for this purpose with a specially designated place - parking or parking.

For many people who come to another city, the question arises of where you can change for a couple of days. Some prefer not to bother, but simply go to the nearest hotel and rent a room. Others, on the contrary, prefer to rent an apartment for a day in a hotel. Each of these options certainly has its pros and cons. Therefore, in order to understand what is still better, a hotel room or an apartment for a day, it is worth considering the most obvious pros and cons of both options.

Benefits of staying in a hotel room.

1. Some people prefer to shoot. hotel rooms only because it gives the settler a solid status. Especially if a person chooses a very expensive hotel or hotel. So, if there is a desire to characterize yourself as a serious and respectable person, then the hotel for a day will be the best choice.
2. In reputable hotels, clients are offered comfortable living conditions, such as a swimming pool, a chic restaurant, entertainment clubs, gyms, etc. However, for common man to settle in such a hotel may not be affordable. Wealthy people can afford such a luxury, even for one day.
3. Any hotel is equipped with a security system, which includes, in particular, video surveillance. For some, the reliability of living in a room is a priority, but for someone, on the contrary, being in front of observers is considered a completely uncomfortable thing. In any case, in modern hotels there is always security, there is a pass system and reliable security systems.
4. The same must be said about the fact that advanced hotel, which cares about its reputation and the comfort of its customers, has special centers where you can use a computer, the Internet and other similar services.
5. Also, when checking into a hotel, a person will no longer need to think about where you can have a tasty meal. After all, any hotel has its own kitchen with professional chefs. So, restaurants and cafes are an integral attribute of a modern hotel.

A few words about the disadvantages of settling in a hotel room.

1. The most important drawback, perhaps, is the rather high cost of rooms in hotels, and often they simply may not be enough. We have to go and look for a hotel where we could finally rent a room for a day. Some do tricky - in advance. However, not everyone has this opportunity. So, sometimes, renting an apartment for a day turns out to be more profitable financially and much faster.
2. It cannot be said that in a hotel a person will be able to retire and receive the expected privacy. After all, this is, in fact, in addition to a personal number, a public place (a hall, a restaurant, etc.), so there will always be a huge number of strangers around.
3. If you plan to rent a room for the purpose of holding business negotiations, then there may be some difficulties, since it will be extremely problematic to arrange a high-level meeting with snacks or even tea.
4. Each hotel has its own rules, so there are restrictions that apply to the guests of the client of the hotel - they can stay in the room, as a rule, no longer than until 23:00. Moreover, since the hotels have a pass system, not a single guest will be allowed in until their identity is verified (passport, driver's license and other similar documents).
5. The rooms do not have the necessary amount of household appliances that may be needed at any time (washing machine, stove, etc.). These questions the hotel guest has to decide on their own.

Advantages of renting an apartment by the day.

1. Housing affordability. Now a huge number of companies in a matter of minutes will help a person find an apartment right here, which will suit him in terms of location, number of rooms, in terms of price, etc. that is, the choice of rental housing is grandiose.
2. Renting an apartment for a day is much cheaper than renting a hotel room. Saving money.
3. You can feel much more comfortable in an apartment than in a standard one. hotel room. It has everything for a normal stay: household appliances, telephone, internet and other amenities.
4. A person who has settled in a rented apartment can receive guests at any time without any restrictions. This room will not work in a hotel.
5. You can choose any apartment for rent for a day in any convenient area of the city.

Disadvantages of renting an apartment for a day.

1. Apartment rentals do not have the same security system as hotels. Although, of course, there are houses equipped with video surveillance. However, the cost of renting in guarded houses will be higher.
2. In rented housing, you have to serve yourself on your own: cooking, cleaning, etc.
3. If a visiting guest has a car, then it will be extremely problematic to find parking near the rented apartment, while each hotel has its own personal parking.

Our subscriber wrote a note on Instagram about what to choose on a trip: an apartment or a hotel. As for us, the arguments for both options are meaningful. With permission, we publish the post in its entirety.

A post based on a question I was asked was born. I prefer to stay in apartments than in hotels. Although it happens differently. She wrote the pros of apartments and hotels for me.

  1. Saving. It is often cheaper to rent an apartment than a hotel room. Especially if you are traveling with a group of friends. It will be economically more profitable to rent an apartment with several rooms and live together, and in the evening get together, discuss the day and drink tea. Finding an apartment with a good location at a bargain price is easier than finding a hotel in the same area.
  2. Nutrition. When you go for a long time, you can cook your own food. And if there are special dietary habits or children, then paradise in general. Cook yourself at least buckwheat, at least millet, at least steaks. You control your own time: you don’t have to get up and run for breakfast from 7 to 9. Even in hotels, breakfast is often just buns and sausages, but I like to eat porridge in the morning. And not every hotel has a kettle in the room.
  3. Personal space. The whole apartment is at your disposal. Dozens of people do not pass under your door every minute, maids do not wake up in the morning and you have breakfast in a calm atmosphere in pajamas and under YouTube, for example.
  4. Household amenities. Washing machine! Often in apartments there are coffee machines, irons, some little things that may suddenly be needed. The apartment we rented in Prague had everything you might need, down to a hair straightener and nail polish remover.
  5. Interior. The choice of apartments is often greater than hotels. Every owner wants to stand out and make his apartment more attractive in some way. It can be a real loft, an authentic apartment, an apartment in some unusual room, with a terrace, access to the roof, etc. Almost all hotel rooms are standardized.
  6. The opportunity to feel not like a guest, but a resident of the city. This is a very exciting cultural experience. new country. There are more impressions from living in an apartment than from staying in a hotel. You can make friends with the owners of the apartment or with pleasant local neighbors who will tell you about secret places “for their own”.

In what cases would hotels be better:

  1. If you only need to stay for 1 night, it is better to take a hotel.
  2. If you arrive late or late at night, take a hotel. There is usually an administrator working around the clock. With the apartment there may be difficulties with settling at a later time, discuss this issue in advance.
  3. It is better to rent a hotel if you are going to a specific place, for example, a resort with thermal springs. In such places, hotels usually have some kind of bonuses, such as their source, spa or some kind of transfer, etc. There will be no such bonuses in the apartment.
