Good afternoon friends!

We recently visited Cyprus with a big campaign, traveled all around, there is something to tell! I'll start with the most important thing - a vacation at the sea, because it's the sea that people come here for?

So, the sea in Cyprus is on the top five, without exaggeration! Azure, clean, golden sand, rocky bays or a smooth entry with sand - everyone will find a place to their liking.

The best beaches are located in Ayia Napa and Protaras.

Holidays in Ayia Napa

Ayia Napa evokes different feelings in me, on the one hand - an excellent sea (great beaches with a good sunset) and a party place (many clubs, bars, restaurants). And on the other hand, there are a lot of drunk/smoky young people driving quads/scooters and who, even in a decent hotel, can yell behind your wall. Wtf, guys, its 5am, mf!!!

Yes, and since the speech above is mainly about the English, you will have to use your meager supply to reason with the oatmeal.

Ayia Napa beaches. The best beaches

As already mentioned, the best beaches in Cyprus are in Ayia Napa and Protaras. Since we rested in Napa, for the entire period of the rest we were on almost all the beaches of Napa ...

Let me remind you that all the beaches in Cyprus are municipal, that is, public, and do not belong to hotels. The standard price for a "sun lounger" (so cute Cypriots translate the word "chaise lounge" into Russian) is 2.50 euros + an umbrella for another 2.5 euros. Total 2 sun loungers + 1 umbrella - 7.5 euros. Or a towel and your own umbrella for free :)

Nissi Beach. Rating - 6 out of 10 points.

Most famous beach Ayia Napa but disappointed me absolutely. The most important misfortune is that in July (perhaps in August?) The sea “blooms”, that is, a lot of algae float in the water and swimming, to put it mildly, is unpleasant. Also Nissi Beach is overpopulated. There are very, very many people.

Katsarka Beach. Rating - 5 out of 10 points.

Sparsely populated beach due to the rocky entrance and strong waves, but if you bring swimming slippers and, say, a bodyboard, you can swim quite well, but this beach is not for small children and not for those who swim poorly - the sea is rough here.

Vathia Gonia Beach. Rating - 8 out of 10 points.

If you walk west from Katsarka Beach for 15 minutes, you can relax on Vathia Gonia Beach, this bay with a smooth entrance and beautiful scenery. Near the hotels Tasya Maris and Anonymous. Great uncrowded beach.

Landa Beach. golden sands. Rating - 7 out of 10 points.

Quite a wide beach with a long shallow entry and "wild" parking. In mid-July, the same problem - algal blooms.

Macronisos Beach. Rating... 10 out of 10 points. The best beach!

Makronisos Beach in my opinion is the best beach in Ayia Napa (!) Wide line, smooth sandy entrance, the beach is suitable for both children and adults. The parking lot is small, but if you arrive at the beach before 10:00, you can park without any problems, even in high season.

Taxi around the area is about 8 euros for 4 people.

The beaches of Cyprus are the treasure of the island. And Ayia Napa got a fat piece of the "beach" pie.

"Someone likes watermelon, and someone likes pork cartilage," says the saying. This I mean that the opinion I expressed is nothing more than my personal opinion, which by no means claims to be the ultimate truth. So, in mine in the ranking of the beaches of Cyprus, Ayia Napa ranks second after. And clearly ahead.

It is easy to explain than the beaches of Ayia Napa better beaches Larnaca. Light sand and the color of the sea. In Larnaca, the sand is darker and the water in the sea, although clean, does not have such an unrealistic turquoise hue as in Ayia Napa. But Larnaca is the most cheap city Cyprus.

It is more difficult to explain why I did not put Napa in first place in the ranking of the beaches of Cyprus. Since I am a "techie" by education, I am impressed by the logic and correctness of the "arrangement" of the beaches of Protaras. The sea, a strip of sandy beach, an excellent footpath stretching from bay to bay, right behind the path there are slender rows of taverns, bars and even massage rooms(massage, not intimate). Many taverns are surrounded by green lawns pleasing to the eye. Everything is new, fresh. It can be seen that the Protaras City Hall is investing a lot of money in the development of the resort.

However, Ayia Napa has something to be proud of. So, get acquainted: The beaches of Cyprus. Ayia Napa:

Brief information

No guide will forget to tell you that until 1974 Napa was a tiny fishing village with a couple of houses and a monastery. There was nothing else here. But after Turkish invasion When Famagusta, with its luxurious beaches, was left behind barbed wire in Turkish territory, Agia Napa got its chance and began to develop rapidly. Now it is one of the most popular resorts Cyprus with a very active nightlife. All the youth of Larnaca go to hang out here. Of the special attractions of Ayia Napa, one can note the ancient monastery and the water park.

All considered beaches were awarded the so-called. blue flag. blue flag is a prestigious international award, which is a kind of guarantor of the quality of a beach or a yacht harbor. Awarded for clean water, beach safety and a range of services provided to vacationers. So, on all beaches there are:

  • water sports,
  • rescue stations,
  • toilets,
  • souls,
  • rental of sun loungers and umbrellas. Rental costs 2.50 euros for an umbrella and the same for a sun lounger. Total €5.00 per day.

Nissi Beach (Nissi Beach)

Nissi Beach is the number one beach in Ayia Napa. Light sand, turquoise water, a lot of people and roaring music. This is the first impression of Nissi Beach. However, if you step aside, you can find a quieter place, and the water and sand will be the same. The beach got its name thanks to a very remarkable island connected to the shore by a narrow sandy isthmus. ΝΗΣΙ (read "nisi") in Greek means island. The isthmus, depending on the tides, can either go under water or appear. Water sports are firmly established on the island. And for thrill-seekers there is a completely free opportunity to dive into the water from a cliff.

Among the shortcomings of the beach can be noted algae growth in summer from July to August. Algae is constantly removed with a special net.

If you are young and active, looking for entertainment, and even adventure, then:

  • DJs entertaining the audience
  • foam party starting in the morning,
  • various competitions,
  • beach volleyball, football
  • and so on. beach games

will be a definite plus for you.

But if you come to Nissi Beach with a small child or whisper when talking and creak when walking If you just want peace and quiet, then this place is clearly not for you. Get over on eastern part beach, but rather decide on a resting place at home, choose a quieter place, for example,

Sea and beaches of Ayia Napa, Cyprus- this is one of the main reasons to choose the island as your holiday destination. Nowhere else have I seen such a different and amazing sea all shades of blue: the turquoise waters of Nissi and Makronissos Beach, blue Lagoon at Cape Greco, blue waves in the center of Ayia Napa….

During our vacation, we tried to see the maximum number of beaches of Ayia Napa to tell you. I'll also show you the location. Ayia Napa beaches on the map And photos of the beaches of Ayia Napa.

The cost of using the beach in Cyprus.

All the beaches of Cyprus are municipal, the entrance to the beaches is free, but for beach equipment you need to pay 2.5 euros per item (sunbed or umbrella); for a set for two, respectively, 7.5 euros. You can lie on a towel and use your umbrella for free, no one will kick you out. Municipal beaches have wi-fi. 3 hours a day for free, then you can buy access at a price of 2 euros per day. When paying for sunbeds, a receipt is issued, which indicates the code for wi-fi, theoretically, after 3 hours you can enter this code and use the Internet unlimitedly, but in fact the Internet is constantly turned off and only loads text. Well, okay, they didn’t come to sit on the Internet. By the way, almost all the beaches of Cyprus are marked with the Blue Flag, and this is more important than a broken Internet.

Ayia Napa Makronissos beach

Makronissos Beach - one of the best beaches in Ayia Napa

Perhaps I’ll start from the end, or rather, from the most distant beaches from the center and move towards the center. The most remote beach from the center of Ayia Napa - macronissosbeach) It is located about 5 km from the city center. The beach is sandy, its length is about 500 meters, it is equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas, there is a beach cafe, the prices of which are high, like in all beach cafes and bars (for example, the price of ice cream is 2-4 euros), there are toilets, changing cabins, and of course, lifeguards. The entrance to the sea is very pleasant - soft white sand. The coast is not deep, but to get to the depth you don’t need to walk for kilometers, it’s enough to sail a little. The sea is clean and very transparent.

Makronissos beach equipped with everything you need

A visit to Makronissos beach can be combined with a cultural program and see one of the attractions of Cyprus, namely, the archaeological excavations of 19 tombs of the Hellenistic and Romanesque period. Entrance to both the archaeological zone itself and to any of the tombs 🙂 is free. On the cape, next to the beach, you can also see quite interesting rock formations.

These interesting rock formations can be observed on the cape next to Makronissos beach

Getting from the center of Ayia Napa on foot will be problematic, but on a rented buggy, quad bike, or even a bicycle, that’s it! The bike ride from the center of Ayia Napa took us about 20 minutes. The beach has both car and bike parking. Price: free. You can get there by bus for 1.5 euros (102 from the center of Ayia Napa, 101 from the Aquapark), but you still have to walk 10 minutes from the stop.

Ayia Napa beach Goldenbeach

Next up is Ayia Napa Beach GoldenBeach (orLandabeach), also very large sand beach, its length is about 400 m. It is located between the beaches of Nissi and Makronissos. As on all beaches - sunbeds, toilets, changing cabins, lifeguards. A distinctive feature of this beach is a very gentle entry into the water, in order to pass through shallow water, you need to go far enough. Therefore, the beach is the best suited for families with children.

Golden, or Landa beach - a beach with white sand and clear water

Sea on Golden beach

Ayia Napa, Nissi beach

Nissi Beach Ayia Napa (Nissibeach)- the most popular, promoted beach of Ayia Napa. Huge beach, as if divided into 2 parts. This beach is famous for constant parties, discos and DJ performances. Once on this beach, we saw only a huge number of people, and crowds of people striving here. Very crowded and it was around 10 am. We didn't stay on the beach. Near the beach there is parking, several taverns, taxi drivers are always on duty at the exit. Sun loungers, umbrellas, toilets, lifeguards and water sports are all available. The distance to the center is about 2 km. If you are relaxing in the center, it is better to come by bus for 1.5 euros, or rent a bicycle.

The most popular beach in Ayia Napa is Nissi Beach.

Sandy Bay - the coziest beach in Ayia Napa

The next beach Sandy BayorVathia Gonia). A very cozy cove, although small, but with beautiful turquoise water and soft white sand. On the one hand there are stone formations, but they do not interfere, the entrance to the sea is good. The beach is equipped with everything you need and even a descent into the water for the disabled (I did not notice this on other beaches). There is a cafe on the beach with prices typical for beach cafes (in Café del Mar they took a cocktail for 7 euros, but they gave him a package of fruits - pomegranates, plums, pears and oranges). Can do water sports sports. The beach is located near the center of Ayia Napa, I think it takes 10 to 20 minutes to walk. There is a bike parking right by the beach, but we parked our bicycles in the parking lot at the entrance to the Pavlo Napa hotel. There is also car parking.

The coziest sandy bay beach

BeachPernerabeach

We are moving towards the center, and if we go around a small cape, then immediately after it there will be beachPernerabeach. The beach is sandy, about 300 meters long. The distance to the center of Ayia Napa is about 1.5 km. However, the entrance to the sea is more rocky (but not pebbly), while it is gentle, which is also convenient for families with children.

Ayia Napa beach Katsarkabeach

Next is a small rocky beach, however, like all Ayia Napa beaches, equipped with sun loungers, umbrellas and a rescue booth. It's called Katsarkabeach. It was this beach that was the closest to our hotel Euronapa hotel, however, we never rested on it. Distance from the center is about 1 km.

Katsarka beach at sunset

Beach in the center of Ayia Napa Limanaki

And finally last beach Ayia Napa, which we visited - the beach located behind the fishing port. This is the beach Limanaki(or Pantachou beach). If you look at Ayia Napa beach map, then this beach consists of 3 beaches - Limanaki beach nearby with the port, then Pantachou beach and at the very end of Glyki Nero beach. Limanaki beach is very crowded. It is located right in the city, that is, it is the closest to reach it. If you drive a little further, you will get to Pantachou beach near the hotel Melissa beach. The beach there is sandy, there are a lot of sun loungers, a lot of space, but the entrance to the sea is not very good. The entrance is rocky, so slippers are needed, or go along the "piers" - piled bags. Many reviews say that the entrance is sandy and gentle, perhaps in some places, or at the other end of the beach (Glyki Nero), but we didn’t like Pantahou. However, the beach has parking, bike parking, and, of course, sun loungers, umbrellas, rescue booths, toilets and changing cabins, as well as showers.

Ayia Napa, Cyprus hotels with private beach

As I said, the beaches in Cyprus are municipal, that is, you will have to pay for the use of sunbeds and umbrellas. Literally a few 4 and 5 star hotels have their own beach. These are the hotels:

Adams Beach 5 * (located on Nissi Bay's own beach, which can be reached in 2 minutes)

Nissi Beach Resort 4 * (2 km from the center of Ayia Napa, on the beach of Nissi Bay)

Atlantica Sancta Napa Hotel– 3* hotel, also located on its own beach.

So, summing up, I can say that we liked the most 2 Ayia Napa beach- this is Makronissos beach for the lack of crowds, for the chic sea, for the snow-white sand (it was from this beach that I took a handful of sand in my collection) and for parking close to the beach. The only negative is that it is far from the center of Ayia Napa, and it is difficult to get there on foot. And the second beach, which in all respects takes first place -Sandybeach. Cozy, picturesque, without crowds of people, with the most beautiful sea azure color, with a convenient entry into the sea, and within walking distance from the city.

The best beach in Ayia Napa - Nissi Beach

The largest and most popular beach in Ayia Napa is Nissi Beach. This is a very beautiful sandy beach, which is 2 km away. from the city center. For some reason, Nissi Beach is considered to be the central, and therefore the best beach of Ayia Napa. Not far from it is Nissi Bay and every day on its shore DJs play a cool electronic music. And between the sun loungers pelicans majestically march, demanding fresh fish from tourists.

There is also extreme entertainment - bungee. This is a suspended cabin that rises 61 meters above the sea, and you jump out of it with a rubber band tied to your legs. There are plenty of other extreme entertainments on Nissi Beach: water skiing, scooters, parachutes (paradliding). This is a helicopter flight over the beach, during which the pilot lowers the height and you run through the waves without leaving the cockpit. And from the helicopter you can admire the stunning views of the coast of Ayia Napa.

  • Nissi Beach

The beaches of Ayia Napa Sandy Bay and Makronisos

Sandy Bay Beach is 370 meters east of Nissi. It is perfect for families with children, as it is well protected from the wind. Another equally popular beach in Ayia Napa is Makronissos Beach. It is located 5 km. from the city center. But unlike Nissi, he is more calm, not party-going. Makronisos Beach stretches for half a kilometer and is suitable for people who want a more relaxing pastime.

And another huge plus in favor of Makronisos is free Wi-Fi. The code can be obtained from lifeguards, bar staff and beach staff. Sandy Bay and Makronissos Beach are white sand beaches.

Agia Thekla beach

6 km. from Ayia Napa there is a small beach of Ayia Thecla. The beach got its name from the name of an ancient small church. Here you can sunbathe without swimwear, as the beach is often deserted. And in the bay of the beach there is an island, to which, if desired, you can easily swim. The infrastructure of the beach includes all the components - umbrellas, sun loungers, showers, cafes and bars. There is one feature here - the beach is quite windy. In general, this beach in Ayia Napa suits romantic couples.
