Uae man-made islands. Artificial islands in Dubai. Attractions and entertainment

More recently United Arab Emirates were known to the world for their deserts and the presence of such valuable raw materials as oil. But some time passed and everything changed. Now everyone is fascinated by the images of Arabian beauties and secretly dreams of getting there, seeing these cosmic wonders with their own eyes, and world celebrities and tycoons are fighting for every square meter in Dubai. The reason for everything is gigantic buildings of indescribable beauty. All the biggest things on our planet (fountains, hotels, towers, parks) are located in the UAE. One of these wonders is rightfully considered to be artificial islands in the shape of date palms on the coast of the Persian Gulf - Jebel Ali, Jumeirah and Deira.

Palm Jumeirah in the UAE is located in the Dubai Marina area, see how it is located on the map relative to other artificial islands:

Sorry, the card is temporarily unavailable

Construction of Palm Jumeirah began in 2001. One and a half ten thousand builders were brought in for the work and lived there. The work did not stop for a minute, shift after shift, day after day, month after month, and in 2006 the island was ready. The material used was stone and sand, which was mined from the bottom of the bay. The entire island consists of the main trunk and 17 palm leaves. A crescent moon was also built around the palm tree - a symbol of all Muslims, which also serves as a breakwater and protects the island from high waves and storms; its length is 11 km. Thus, total area Jumeirah exceeds 25 sq. km., which is equal to 800 football fields.

After work on the island was completed, the architects began developing the area. Soon luxury villas, hotels, shopping centers, not to mention palm trees and other plants. Most of the Palm Jumeirah properties have already been purchased and occupied. The architecture is made in different styles: from Arabic to European.

Atlantis The Palm is the most luxurious hotel in the world.

Jumeirah Island is actually a peninsula, as it is connected to the mainland by a 300 m long bridge. So that the inhabitants of the island can quickly move around the territory, a tunnel was built under water. And for implementation transport communication Jumeirah and the mainland built a monorail.

The scale of the island is so large that you can even see it from space.

Thanks to the "Tourist Blog" for such interesting information.

Dubai - amazing place in the middle of the desert, in which the achievements of scientific and technological progress of the 21st century are intertwined with ancient culture. One of the most ambitious projects of the emirate was artificial islands.

The Palm Islands are an archipelago of artificial islands created by human hands on Earth. Between the islands there are also artificial archipelagos “World” and “Universe” made up of small islands. This entire creation can be seen from the Moon with the naked eye.

Let's start with the palm islands. They are located in the UAE, in the emirate of Dubai. The archipelago consists of three large islands, each having the shape of a palm tree.

Palm Jumeirah

Palm Jumeirah is the smallest and most original of the three islands. This is the first palm island and a great achievement in the history of world architecture. Construction of the island began in June 2001, and in 2006 it was opened for development.

The "crown" of Palma consists of 17 "branches" - microdistricts, rushing into the sea. On the branches there are exclusive villas, differing in size and design:

It consists of a trunk, 16 leaves, and a crescent moon surrounding the island that forms an 11-kilometer breakwater. Diameter - 6 km. The Crescent is a barrier that surrounds and protects the Palm from the waves of the sea. Hotels will be located on it.

For example, here is the Atlantis Hotel, one of the most interesting, popular and controversial hotels in the Emirates.

Under construction:

Almost like a mirage:

Night view of the Atlantis Hotel:

Residential areas include approximately 8,000 two-story detached houses. 2007:

"The Trunk" is central part Palm trees, where there are parks, shopping centers, restaurants and high-rise residential buildings.

Construction of the central part - the “trunk”:

The size of the island is 5 kilometers by 5 kilometers and its total area is more than 800 football fields. The island is connected to the mainland by a 300-meter bridge, and the crescent is connected to the top of the palm tree by an underwater tunnel. The value of Palm Jameira is estimated at approximately $14 billion.

Palm Jebel Ali

Construction started in October 2002:

This is how the island was supposed to look like:

The man-made artificial island was commissioned for development at the end of 2007. It is 50% larger than Jumeirah. More than 1,000 bungalows supported on stilts in the Polynesian style are planned to be built along the coastline:

But not everything is so rosy here: currently, due to low demand for real estate, most construction work on the Palm Jebel Ali has been temporarily suspended.

Palm Deira

This is the largest artificial island of the three. Its construction began in November 2004.

A few numbers. Deira will be 8 times larger than Palm Jumeirah, and 5 times larger than Palm Jebel Ali. The distance from the shore to the top of the “crescent” is 14 km, the width of Palma is 8.5 km. The branches of the Palm will have different lengths and will be 400-850 apart. Crescent total length 21 kilometers will be the largest breakwater in the world.

The Deira Palm will be buried at a depth of 5 to 22 meters.

It will take a billion cubic meters of stones and sand to create the “trunk”, 41 branches and a protective crescent. The length of the branches varies, the distance between them will be from 840 to 3,340 meters.

Once completed, Palma Deira will become the largest man-made island in the history of mankind, which will serve as a habitat for 1 million people. The work is planned to be fully completed by 2015, although this date is not final.

A few photos of what Palma Deira will look like:

Let's take a look at a map of all the artificial islands in Dubai:

As can be seen on the map, between the Palms there are also artificial archipelagos “World” and “Universe” made up of small islands.

Archipelago World

This is an artificial archipelago consisting of several islands, general form reminiscent of the continents of the Earth (hence the name “World”). It is located 4 kilometers from the Dubai coastline.

The artificial islands in the World archipelago are created mainly from sand from the shallow coastal waters of Dubai. It was difficult to find a place for this project, because coastline was already occupied by the Palm Islands. Then it was decided to build islands 4 km from the coast.

Construction of artificial islands. Sand was dredged from the bottom of the Persian Gulf and sprayed over the construction site to create the islands

The total area of the Mir archipelago is 55 sq. km. Which makes it the largest artificial archipelago in the world. The size of the islands ranges from 14 thousand to 83 thousand square meters, the width of the straits between them ranges from 50 to 100 meters with a depth of up to 16 meters.

“Mir” is connected to the mainland only by water and air. An artificially constructed breakwater protects the island from large waves.

In April 2004, the first island emerged from the water, called “Dubai”. Unlike the Palm Islands, the Mir archipelago is not connected to the continent and there are no bridges. All construction material was delivered by sea.

Breakwater creation:

By May 2005, 15 million tons of stone had been dumped into the bay.

In the future, it is planned to expand the archipelago by creating new islands under the “Universe” project

Will artificial islands wash away? The Mir archipelago, despite the fact that it is completely surrounded by water, is designed very reliably - artificial islands can disappear under water no earlier than in 900-4,000 years, Arabian Business reports.

The islands of the Mir archipelago will have the most luxury houses planets. Not everyone can buy an island: the development company Nakheel itself sends out invitations (50 per year) to the wealthy elite.

The price of one island reaches $38 million and varies depending on location, size, and proximity to other islands.

Access to all 300 islands will be by sea or by air, regular ferries, as well as private yachts and boats.

Russian money bags have already bought up all of “Russia” - one of the largest archipelagos in the World. The developer's representative, Hamza Mustafal, says that one Russian developer bought two “Russian” islands at once - Rostov and Yekaterinburg. The Siberia Island was bought by an unnamed Russian woman who plans to sell it in parts.

According to the plans of the creators, the World archipelago will become an elite community, which will consist of selected inhabitants of the Earth, service personnel and tourists, the total number of which will not exceed 200,000 people.

There are things in the world whose uniqueness can only be felt by touching them with your own hands or seeing them with your own eyes. This concept fully applies to the Palm Island in Dubai, which, it should be noted right away, there is more than one there!

Near the coast of the Persian Gulf there are 3 palm islands (Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali, Palm Deira), which are perhaps the most interesting attractions of the UAE.

All of them are conceived in the form of date palms growing everywhere here. At the top of each of them is a crescent, which functions not so much as a symbol of Islam, but as a breakwater that prevents the artificially created islands from being eroded. In addition, around these artificial parts of land, artificial barrier reefs, which are quotations in Arabic taken from the poems of the Dubai ruler Rashid al Maktoum.

The Palm Islands in Dubai were created from monolithic stone, limestone and sand extracted from the bottom of the Persian Gulf. The palm islands turned out to be so large that they could be seen from the surface of the Moon even with the naked eye. After photographs of these islands were taken by astronauts aboard the ISS station, they became a symbol of the entire United Arab Emirates.

This palm island in Dubai was the very first of the project to be created. They began to wash it in June 2001.

To create the Palm Jumeirah, it was necessary to wash 7 million cubic meters of sea sand. The result of the work was an island with an area of 25 km 2 .

On the plan, it represents a tree trunk, from which there are 17 branches in the form of peculiar branches. An 11-kilometer-long crescent breakwater protects the island from being washed away by sea waves during storms. Here, on the crescent, it is planned to build 28 hotels. All of them will represent well-known hotel chains and will be built in a variety of styles: Japanese, Venetian, Brazilian...

The main attraction should be the Atlantis tourist complex, which consists of two pompous towers connected by a bridge. In addition, the island has marinas for boats and yachts, large shopping centers, various sports facilities and, of course, luxury housing in the form of 8,000 two-story mansions increased comfort. Tourists will also be provided with 78 kilometers of first-class beaches.

Palm Jumeirah is divided into three areas of different areas of activity: Crown, Trunk and Crescent. Each of the 17 branches of the Crown will have a separate microdistrict. In turn, they will be built up with exclusive villas of various designs and sizes. In the central part of Palma - the Trunk - there will be shopping centers, restaurants and parks. In multi-storey residential buildings It will be possible to purchase apartments of various sizes with sea views. It is planned to build a water canal in the center of the Trunk. Crescent is given over to hotel complexes.

Palm Jumeirah is connected to the mainland by a high-speed monorail train integrated with the Dubai Metro. An underwater tunnel is being built for ordinary vehicles. The highway will have three lanes in each direction.

Palm Jebel Ali

The second artificial palm island in Dubai is the Palm Jebel Ali. The start of this project was October 2002. The island is approximately half the size of its older sister Jumeirah.

The materials for its construction took two orders of magnitude more - 135 million cubic meters of monoliths, limestone and sea sand. But the shape of the island is more exotic.

The location for Jebel Ali was chosen 22 kilometers from Jumeirah. The speedboat covers this distance in 17 minutes. From land to the island there is a separate road junction from the central street of Dubai, ShaikhZayedRoad.

The main focus on Jebel Ali will be on private housing. Here in the coastal zone, over one thousand piled bungalows made in the Polynesian style have already been built. In addition to them, more than 2 thousand diverse villas have been built. It is planned to attract wealthy investors by building houses according to their own designs. It is expected that by 2020, about 1.7 million people will live in the palm of Jebel Ali. On an area of 30,000 m2, it is planned to erect a whole complex of buildings, shaped like yacht sails.

On the crescent that protects Jebel Ali from being washed away by waves, four theme parks are being built: above-ground DiscoveryCove and BuschGardens; underwater SeaWorld and Aquatica. It is expected that the latter will be especially popular. SeaWorld is building its first... this region a marine aquarium, where everyone can see various inhabitants of the underwater world, including killer whales and dolphins. The seaside village of Aquatica should generally become the most visited tourist destination in the Middle East.

Palm Deira

The construction of this island started two years after the start of work on Jebel Ali - in October 2004. According to the project, Deira will be 8 times larger than Jumeirah, and Jebel Ali five times. It is considered the most large-scale and long-term project.

When construction is completed, Palma Deira will be the largest artificial island in human history.

It is expected that a million people will be able to live there. According to the work plan, the island should be completed in 2015, but it is possible that the completion of work may be delayed due to too large volumes.

In plan, Deira is an exotic palm tree with a massive wide trunk and 41 branches. From the sea side it will be protected by a crescent breakwater. Deira's location area is defined between Dubai Creek and Al Harmiya Port. It's made to inhale new life the old district of Dubai with the same name. The size of the island is so significant that its construction was divided into several stages.

Each palm island in Dubai carries its own meaning. Of course, humanity has tried before (and not without success) to build artificial islands in the shallow coastal zone. For example, Japan once made such pieces of sushi from household waste. But they remained in people’s memory as landfills carried out to sea. An equally grandiose construction project inhabited islands, on which hundreds of thousands of people can live, is being done by people for the first time. Perhaps someday the technology for constructing such islands will change, and they themselves will be larger, but these Palm Islands near Dubai will definitely remain the first in the memory of mankind.

Remember the advertisement for a chocolate bar: a girl with a beautiful figure is basking by a palm tree against the backdrop of the turquoise sea and drinking coconut milk?.. Today we will tell you about a place where you can not only feel paradisaic delight, but also to check real feelings.

Palma - the “true” island

A small piece of land in the middle of the ocean, created as a result of the eruption of an underwater volcano, is today surrounded by green gardens of indescribable beauty. Palma has become famous for its special atmosphere, which is often noted by those who have been there. And if other Canary Islands attract tourists active species sports and relaxation on immaculate shores, then Palma has its own magic.

Being surrounded by “living” inanimate nature, a person returns to his essence and remembers his soul. Perhaps this is why there are such contradictory reviews about Palma: it attracts some, repels others, forever.

Have you already felt the force of attraction? Then welcome to Palma Island! It covers only 708 square kilometers, so we have no doubt that you will want to explore it all. And we anticipate the first question upon arrival.

Where to rent a car?

You can rent it right at the airport, so don’t rush to leave it. To do this you need to have a driver's (international) license, a voucher and credit card. That's it for the list necessary documents does not end, so we advise you to take care of the full package of documents in advance and book a car in advance. By the way, if you are under 21 years old, the company may not give you the car. In some regions, the critical age reaches 23 years.

Rent a car to get more from Palma!

And finally, a couple of reminders about the rules traffic, which are strongly recommended to be observed on the island of La Palma:

  • At a pedestrian crossing you must let everyone through. In this place, pedestrians are not expected to worry about driver inattention. In addition to people, goats, cats, dogs and rabbits can jump onto the road. Be careful, especially at night!
  • It is not customary to overtake cars on the right;
  • Do you want to overtake a car while in the far left lane? Turn on the left turn signal - they will understand you and give way;
    If you want to slow down, first stick your hand to the left or turn on the left turn signal. This will warn those following you to stop. On mountain road with poor visibility before turning - honk;
  • yellow markings prohibit parking;
  • the fine for exceeding the speed limit by 20 km/h will be €100;
  • driving while intoxicated may result in imprisonment;
  • and lastly, traffic police representatives do not take bribes

Housing on the island Palm

Now let's talk about housing. What would you like: a villa, a hacienda, a cottage or an apartment?

The Hacienda has a long history within its walls. Sometimes it is two hundred years old. A cozy rural house with gardens, a swimming pool and everything you need will immerse you in complete peace and give unforgettable experience. Weekly rent will cost at least €300-400. The price may include cleaning, transfer to the airport, yacht rental and much more.

Apartments on the island Palma promises an equally comfortable stay, but directly in the resort town, where in addition to the pool and terrace, you can see the beach and bars and restaurants nearby. Cost – from €300.

Spacious villas will cost you €1000 per week. And for those who like relaxation with an agricultural touch, cottages are suitable: cozy small houses with a plot of land, a garden or a vegetable garden. You will have to pay €350 or more for them.

Separately, I would like to tell you about one unique hotel for adults. Have you ever wanted to spend a couple of unforgettable days in a museum? The Hacienda de Abajo hotel offers you to walk past the relics and feel like you are, in a sense, an exhibit. The history of the estate begins in the 16th century, but it opened only in 2012 after careful restoration. This is probably why the price tag is quite reasonable: from €92 per night. The hotel is located in a quiet historical center resort town Tazacorte, surrounded by banana plantations and with magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Beaches

There, in Tazacorte there is forever sunny Beach, on which gloomy clouds do not cast shadows even in winter. And at night, along the coast, dozens of fishermen in boats wait for their catch. The light of the lamps reflected in the dark water and the male singing are mesmerizing! There are a few more notable beaches in the table below.

Puerto Naos beach on Palma island

Be sure to take a swim in the natural pools of Charco azul in San Andres on the island of La Palma (Spain)

Despite the small area of the island and our rather lyrical introduction, there is something for everyone here to suit their taste. But the priority, of course, is excursions. Here is just a small list of where to go and what to see...

Attractions

The main attraction of the island is its nature. And amazingly clean air. Since 2002, Palma has been recognized as a world biosphere reserve. About 35 percent of its area is covered with pine and laurel forests.

Caldera de Taburiente National Park. Extensive forests and mountains make the island ideal for hiking trails.

“Colored” waterfall in national park Caldera de Taburiente.

Together with ferns, dragon trees and other species (and there are more than twenty of them), they form a “dome” covering the ancient north of the island. These are the “last of the Mohicans” forests, endangered representatives that covered the south of Europe many years ago. Especially for lovers of romance and solitude, there are paths along which you can walk, “wrapped” in fog and feeling the breath of living nature.

A few steps from the central part of the city of Los Llanos there is a good botanical garden. Not far from it is the Maroparque Zoo with exotic birds and animals: pompous peacocks, fastidious toucans, slender herons, etc. sit in the enclosures.

Los Llanos de Aridane – The largest city on the island. Here you can take some spectacular photos against the backdrop of bright facades.

Las Manchas has the distinctive mosaic Square of the Four Stones. There is a small but beautiful fountain, numerous gazebos and benches surrounded by greenery, as well as a stage for performances. Conveniently, there is a house-museum of wine located very close by. Here you can taste and even buy the vaunted Canary wines.

Santa Cruz de La Palma is the capital of the island. The city is notable for its colonial style facades.

Be sure to visit the cactus garden on your way to El Paso. There are more than seven hundred exotic species there.

For museum lovers:

  • in the cigar museum you will get acquainted with the stages of making high-quality cigars, which are quite comparable in quality to Cuban ones;
  • In the silk museum you will see the process of making silk products. When leaving, don’t forget to buy something for yourself or as a souvenir;
  • Palma also has the only banana museum in the world, where you will be told in detail about the influence of the banana on the society and economy of the island. The fact is that this product is the most cultivated and exported

There are a lot of observation platforms(free!), from where absolutely fantastic landscapes open up for every taste: coast and cities, amazing sunsets and the vast ocean.

A well-known fact that we have no right not to mention is an astronomical observatory that studies the entire northern hemisphere of the planet. If you decide to visit this delightful place, be sure to register in advance and bring warm clothes and comfortable shoes. The observatory is located at the very high point islands: 2400 meters above sea level.

A couple of facts that were not included in the article:

  • Tenerife - for now the only island in the Canary Islands, with which there are international air connections. Therefore, you will have to get to Palma the old fashioned way, with transfers.
  • There is practically no crime in this place, life is measured and calm.
  • In addition to the forests on Palma, you can admire the vast heather fields.
  • Since scientists monitor our Universe around the clock, special lighting is installed on the roads, which does not interfere with astrophysicists’ work.
  • There are a few geographical names, which includes the word “Palm”. You should not confuse them, so as not to end up instead Canary Islands Palma on, for example, Palma de Mallorca, which is on the island. Majorca.
  • The average air temperature throughout the year is approximately 22-24 °C.
  • The palm tree is able to provide itself with vegetables and fruits. Potatoes are harvested here four times a year.
  • There are not many places for tourists on the island – not a few: only seven thousand. So, hurry up! ;)
  • The palm tree is known for producing delicious honey.

Leisure

In this regard, the possibilities on the island are no less than the number of attractions. Surprised? It seems like what else can you do in a place surrounded by azure warm water, under gentle sun? Here's what:

  • diving or spearfishing. If you have already mastered scuba diving, it's time to take on something more cunning. True, there are many conditions for spearfishing to take place. Firstly, not all fish can be caught. Secondly, not on every day and, thirdly, not in any place you like. In addition, the catch cannot be sold, and fishing must be licensed. If the listed restrictions have discouraged you from hunting underwater, well, you can just go fishing. Catching a rich catch - no matter where you are: in a boat or under water - is always pleasant. Or you can do it even simpler: just go to boat trip. Good too;
  • rock climbing or paragliding. There is everything you need for both types of entertainment. By the way, Palma Island is considered one of the most ideal places for free flights;
  • arrange a real marathon for yourself or explore the route on foot, visiting ancient caves. You can use a mountain bike

Pay attention to the possibility of a tour of the acropark, which is located very close to Refugio del Pilar. Suspension bridges, ropes and nets will add vivid impressions to a relaxing holiday.

Gastronomy

It's delicious everywhere here. A little unusual - the influence of many national cultures is felt: Spanish, European, Latin American, African and not only. The basis of the dishes continues to be fresh seafood of excellent quality and impeccable taste. Add to this excellent home-made wine, amazing desserts and, as they say, “it’s impossible to resist”! Prices in restaurants vary between €10-15, with wine the amount increases to €50. By the way, dinner on Palma starts late and can last until midnight.

Green and red mojo are traditional hot and spicy Canarian sauces.

P.S.

This is the island of Palma, to which today we deservedly hand over the palm (no pun intended) among the other islets of the Canary archipelago. Meet me on Palma?;)

Dubai, a city that 50 years ago was the poor relative of the UAE family, has today become the most progressive and fastest growing metropolis in the world. The financial impetus for such lightning-fast development was given by the discovery of its own oil fields on the territory of the emirate in 1966. This fateful event contributed to the transformation of a fishing village into a global investment and tourist centre. But today, income from the production and sale of oil accounts for only 5% of GDP, and the vast budget of the emirate is formed mainly through investment, real estate sales, trade and tourism.

When rebuilding the city, the sheikhs did not waste time on trifles. Intoxicated by their petrodollars, they began to enthusiastically improve their native lands. When looking at the modern appearance of Dubai, it is immediately clear that this splendor is nothing more than a mixture of irrepressible imagination and huge money.

In 2000, the Dubai authorities thought that they seemed to have everything, but there was not enough space. So they decided to create islands in the Persian Gulf. The result of these noble plans was a conglomerate of man-made objects, the largest of which was the Palm Jumeirah.

Jumeirah artificial islands - the most ambitious engineering and financial project yet

The legendary creation is the hero of many sections of the Guinness Book of Records, the largest artificial island in the world. The facility added even greater world fame to the emirate of Dubai and increased its length beach strip more than 56 km (which is 9 times more than it was before construction). Also, almost 520 km of land went for the construction of the most expensive real estate in the Middle East, which, by the way, was sold out even before the end of construction.

The main initiator of the Jumeirah islands megaproject was Sheikh Mohammed, the ruler and absolute monarch of Dubai. And the calculations themselves and their implementation were handled by the Nakhil company, a state government developer, and hundreds of specially hired design specialists. The shape of the future island of Palm Jumeirah (United Arab Emirates) was not only a fantasy solution, but also the result of careful calculations, which made it possible to place a maximum of villas on it and extend beach line. In addition, the choice of the shape of the island contains ideological overtones, because date palm- a symbol of Dubai, and the object itself has the full name Palm Jumeirah, or “palm tree crown”.

How was the Palm Jumeirah built?

Construction of the island began in 2001, and already in 2006 the first buildings began to be erected. In 2008, the first huge hotel Atlantis The Palm 5* was opened. To create a strong soil, ordinary sand, which you can “eat with a spoon” in the desert around Dubai, was not suitable for. Sea sand was extracted from the bottom of the Persian Gulf by drying. Using special machines, the material was compacted using continuous vibrations. The shallow waters off the coast of Palm Jumeirah are not very susceptible to storms, but nevertheless the island was surrounded by a 3.5-meter protective breakwater built from rock. The place of each pebble in the mound was determined by a computer.

In total, 94 million m 3 of sand, 5.5 million m 3 were used to create the island mountain stones, 10 years of labor 49 thousand workers and 52 billion dollars. If we sum up the entire volume of sand that was required to create the island of Palm Jumeirah (United Arab Emirates), then it would be enough to build a stable wall 2.5 meters high and a length commensurate with the equator.

Palm Jumeirah - a modern oriental fairy tale

Palm Jumeira is very reminiscent of something unreal and impossible. It seems that he is fantastic, straight out of the pages of the books of Lewis Carroll or Jules Verne. Many, seeing the artificial island of Palm Jumeirah, consider it the embodiment of oriental fantasies from the Arabian Nights fairy tales. In principle, this is quite understandable - they could not build an island worth more than 50 billion dollars in the style of Khrushchev’s high-rise buildings. The ostentatious splendor bordering on madness suits the style of this grandiose island. Most famous hotel Atlantis the Palm, which is located on the breakwater, is designed in the style of legends about the disappeared kingdom of Atlantis.

Palm Jumeirah is also a modern investment fairy tale. Back in 2003, Dubai's leadership revised many legislative dogmas and made fateful decisions to expand the investment and real estate market. Since then, Dubai has become an "investment doll." In addition to the national finances generated by the "black gold", millions of European and American currency flowed into the emirate. And when the famous terrorist attack of September 11 occurred in the United States, many decided to hide their finances in the Arab market, which was more reliable and profitable at that time.

Properties on Palm Jumeirah

Dubai, especially in the prestigious Palm Jumeirah area, has the most attractive and high-status real estate market in the eastern region, if not the entire continent. Even before the end of construction of the artificial island, most of the villas had already been sold. However, today some branches of Palma are still being overgrown with new villas.

Housing in Dubai became an attractive market unit only after the emirate's authorities made an unprecedented decision in 2003 - they granted foreign buyers the right to full ownership of the purchased property. Thus, Dubai became the only city in the Persian Gulf, where the purchase of real estate is a completely transparent procedure that is protected by international and national law.

Palm Jumeirah Hotels, Entertainment and Attractions

Only after the construction of infrastructure facilities, roads and hotels on the trunk of the palm tree, the island took on its completed appearance and the already familiar outlines of the Palm Jumeirah resort. Describing the area as a “city of the future” is by no means an exaggeration. Jumeirah is indeed a very high-tech and extremely prestigious region. It should be noted that Jumeirah is not only the name of an artificial island, but the entire area of the city, including beaches and hotels near Palma. On the island itself there are 25 prohibitively expensive hotels.

Also on the island of Palm Jumeirah there are the world famous shopping centers Jumeirah Town Center and Mercato Mall, which is decorated in a Renaissance style.

The absolute must-haves for visiting tourists with children are the Aquaventure water park (one of the largest in the world) and The Dolphin Bay dolphinarium, located in the Atlantis Hotel.

Palm Jumeirah: how to get to the attractions?

Today, the Palm District is not only the center of a beautiful, rich life, but also an important excursion site. Many tourists go to Jumeirah just to see, visit the malls or entertainment centers.

Palma can be reached by the highway that connects the island to the mainland, or by the monorail, which rises above the road. This road is a great way to get to the sites on the island and enjoy the fabulous views.

Some palm tree branches are connected underground tunnels. All hotels on the island have helipads.

Followers of Palm Jumeirah, or Future Construction Projects of Dubai

The existing grandiose glory of the city of Dubai is probably not enough, so the fantasies of sheikhs and architects will not soon reach their apogee. The government's plans include even more extravagant projects, including several artificial archipelagos, a rock-built solar system prototype called The Universe, Lilypad, a floating city of the future, and an ecological planetary center.
