Family composition - 2 adults and 2 children - 6.5 and 1.8 years old.
The flight from Kyiv was delayed by 40 minutes, but we were there even an hour earlier than our arrival time.
Group transfer and we were at the hotel reception around 11 am - we checked in at 5 pm - the last ones!
So, it all started from the reception)
Background:
The hotel area consists of 5 hotels - Gran Bahia Principe Ambar, Gran Bahia Principe Esmeralda, Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro and Gran Bahia Principe Punta Cana Gran and Bahia Principe Premer - the hotel extends deep into the island, so the hotels are located as if one after another - that is, first luxury Ambar and Esmeralda, then mirror Bavaro and Punta Cana and the latest Premier.
In November, on the advice of the operator (not Manzana), I booked Bahia Principe Premer as a children's hotel, which has a “children's” package in the rooms in the form of bathrobes for children, milk in the minibar and small similar items for children.
But we couldn’t find reviews about this particular hotel in the Gran Bahia Principe chain... A month before departure, we finally found a review that said that the hotel was located on the territory of the chain, but it was the furthest to the road, that is, it was about 20 minutes from the ocean on foot, yes, trains often travel, but we considered that with a stroller this is not a very convenient option for us and turned to the tour operator with a request to replace the Bahia Principe Premer hotel with the Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro hotel, which is located in close proximity to the ocean and can be reached on foot 5 -7 minutes) The tour operator, having requested available seats and charged us an additional payment of about 900 dollars, rebooked the hotel for us. (As it turned out on the spot, the rooms in these 2 hotels cost the same - and it’s just a lottery where you will be accommodated - many gave 100 at the reception -200 dollars and they were moved to the Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro hotel) - the advantage is proximity to the beach, the main restaurant and the rooms themselves are newer - a four-poster bed, plasma and good new plumbing)
The voucher clearly states the name of the Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro hotel and the name of the Family suit room, but at the reception we were immediately given Premier bracelets (even before check-in - for visiting restaurants) with which we were not allowed into the main restaurant... we suspected something was wrong and went to investigate... Result - we were told that we had bought a Premier - and that the inscription on the Bavaro voucher did not mean anything and in Bavaro there simply was no Family Suit room category. Or rather, there are, but they are called Superior suit - that is, we have an error in the voucher - which was made by the operator and therefore we are accommodated in the Premier... there turned out to be about 20 of us from Ukraine... at the reception they did not want to hear anything about our additional payments or what was in The name of the hotel is still written on the voucher... the guide of the host party Terramara, Elena, behaved strangely - she did not take any part in the negotiations at all! Having barely called her, she finally arrived - she announced that she had written a letter to Kyiv and was waiting for what they would say, she didn’t even try to talk to the hotel staff. Let me remind you that it was Christmas - a day off and there was a time difference... it was already late evening in Kiev, that is, she knew very well that now no one would solve anything in Kiev and only she could provide us with at least some assistance in the negotiations, but no - she simply told us about it, turned around and left without even trying to help (((
As a result, we were checked into the Premier at 17-00 as the last and only ones of all with 2 children after a 12-hour flight... By the way, there were no children’s “packages” in the Premier) no milk, no bathrobes - nothing!
Having spent a lot of money and time in the next 2 days on negotiations with Kyiv operators, after 2 nights we were finally moved to the right hotel...
After 2 days, the youngest girl was poisoned, they ate only the maximum possible children's food... they called the insurance number and ended up with the Travel Professional Group company... why? It’s not clear - after all, they called the insurance company... after long songs and melodies they dictated the insurance number to us... they called the insurance company European Travel Insurance back - they told us our coordinates and called a doctor for child 1, 8, stipulating that we had poisoning and the child had vomiting and diarrhea... they said that in 5 minutes they will call back and tell you when the doctor will arrive... After 2 hours (!!!) without waiting for the call, we called back again... again a new operator - 2 hours of clarifying the data and again - “in 5 minutes we will call back and tell you when the doctor will arrive”... And ALL! Not a call...we are experienced parents - we managed it ourselves - and we have medicines at the ready, but the very fact - how is this possible - after all, we need a doctor small child! We made 3 calls for 5-7 minutes each, spending a lot of money on empty talk - we never saw the doctor, we never received a call (((
The next day I got poisoned...the next day my eldest daughter...
We informed our guide about such poisonings - she reacted calmly, said that everyone here is poisoned and almost every 3 of her tourists here were poisoned (((
These are our operators and insurance... the impressions about the quality of service are simply terrible(
Summary about the country itself)
I really liked the Dominican Republic as a country (oddly enough)
Green and bright, very comfortable weather - during our period it rained every day, but in the morning for 5 minutes, the wind near the ocean is sometimes strong, but very warm - it is very comfortable to lie down and for children - it does not float, there are waves, often with small algae - they are actually immediately removed from the beach, but they remain in the ocean) in principle there is no discomfort) the ocean is warm)
There are always sunbeds on the beach - despite the fact that the hotel was full, you can always find a sunbed, naturally, under an umbrella you need to take it at 7 o'clock, but this is also not a problem)
The kitchen...very monotonous and with a relatively small selection. There is nothing to feed the children - absolutely - in the evening it is impossible to even find mashed potatoes (Everything is breaded and in a bunch of sauces (
The animation is average - it exists, but it’s not really a theater)) whoever wants to will always find something to do)
Very weak children's animation - practically non-existent - children's disco - this is one dull animator and 5 children - although there are hundreds of them in the hotel.
There were no peacocks or other animals walking around the area.
Russians and Ukrainians are often ignored, and at the reception and at the bar, Europeans and Americans are served first - this is very offensive...
So the hotel is a solid 3-4 at a stretch - and all because of the staff - the territory itself, the beach and the rooms are basically good, but the staff, the kitchen spoil everything (
Well, our operators distinguished themselves... we will definitely return to the Dominican Republic to a decent hotel, but without our operators.

The hotel is excellent, but we were unlucky with the ocean.
The Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana 5* hotel, where we stayed, is part of a chain of hotels that are located on one huge territory in Punta Cana.

1.Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana 5*
2.Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro 5*
3.Grand Bahia Principe Turquesa 5*
4.Grand Bahia Principe Aquamarine (ex.Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar Green) 5*
5.Luxury Bahia Principe Esmeralda 5*

Tourists from the first three hotels can easily move around each other’s territories, but they can no longer enter the luxury hotels. Tourists from luxury options can enter all areas.
There is a security guard at the entrance to each territory, and they use their bracelets to see if people are going there. Don’t stand like a wall and let one through, but look out of the corner of your eye so as not to strain, this is important.

Each hotel is equipped with its own lobby and restaurant. Each has its own territory, very large and beautiful.
There are open cars constantly running that take people to the beach, to their villas, to the lobby and back. The transport is like an open steam locomotive, everything is very comfortable and has stops.

In luxury versions, the cars are smaller and personal, with a maximum of 4 seats.

Food at the hotel.

Every day on the restaurant there is written the name of the cuisine whose dishes will prevail today. We got into Mediterranean (sea), Italian, Dominican and Japanese cuisine. At the same time, every (!!) day there was pizza, and the opportunity to make tacos, and bananas in different forms, and pasta, and seafood.
Seafood has always been there, but the most a large number of(paella with seafood, hot mussels, various shells, fish, red, including squid) was at the bottom of Mediterranean cuisine. On other days, there was always fish, paella and some shellfish, squid. For breakfast, red (lightly salted) fish was served every day. There were no shrimp in their pure form (without sauce), but they will be mentioned later in the story about A la carte restaurants.

Fruits!
Mango, papaya, melon, watermelon, pineapple, guava, bananas, passion fruit, tangerines - there were every day. But the mango was usually laid out at the very beginning, and it was the first to go. It wasn’t always the mango that was reported, so I was lucky mainly because it arrived at the beginning. There were other fruits less often, but I don’t remember all of them, unfortunately.

Other dishes.
I can say that anyone can have a delicious meal at this hotel. Those who are losing weight, those who want to eat a lot of delicious food (including junk food, like ribs), and those who come for fruit, meat or seafood - will find something for themselves here.

Here are sample dishes for different meals.

Breakfast: pancakes (3 types), pancakes, Belgian waffles (with Nuttela, honey, etc. to choose from), croissants, pastries, a lot of manipulation with eggs, “build your own sandwich” from sausage/ham/red fish/cheeses/pieces of lettuce and in general anything and with any bread. There was some porridge, but it was spicy and too runny. Next, fruits, yoghurts, baked bananas, mashed potatoes and sooo many different options for other food. The only thing that was a little disappointing was that there was no person making smoothies. There were transparent “samovars” with juice in them. But we still didn’t fully understand whether it was freshly squeezed or not. Watermelon, melon, papaya seemed freshly squeezed, orange did not. As a result, they drank water or coffee with milk more often. Also, of course, there is cocoa and tea, for every taste.

Lunch: fried cheese, baked tomatoes, various side dishes, various meats and fish (dorado, salmon, for example), pasta, a lot of salads of the “assemble it yourself” type or eat ready-made, soups (gazpacho, tomato, vegetable, chicken, mashed potatoes) , seafood. You could always make yourself a burger or a hot dog. There were sausages, ribs, wings, a lot of vegetables in different types, pizza (not dry, a lot of cheese and toppings, in general, always hot, as they take it apart and prepare new ones). Delicious desserts, cakes, pastries, and cookies. There were also warm covered pies, sometimes marshmallows. Several types of ice cream with a ton of toppings to choose from.

Dinner: was very similar to lunch but with an emphasis on the cuisine, which was announced at the entrance on a specific day. On the day of Japanese cuisine there were rolls (pink, blue, even yellow), fish, and rice dishes more than usual. On the Italian day there was everything from a bunch of types of cheese slices, prosciutto, pasta and pizza, to tomato soup with croutons. On Dominican Cuisine Day, free coconuts were given away)

The waiters always offer water and stronger drinks, everyone is polite and not arrogant.

A la carte restaurants.
We were only in two: Japanese and Mediterranean. The first one had sushi, fish, banana desserts, and tempura ice cream. The atmosphere is good, but the menu is loud and boring. I was amazed by the Mediterranean restaurant. I don’t know if they would have brought out the oysters if we had sat a little longer. But even without them, everything that was brought to us from the menu and everything that was in the buffet caused delight. Those same shrimp without sauce were also there. The photos will tell you everything themselves). Various cheeses, soups, cold cuts and desserts were also there.

At the end of the paragraphs about food, I would like to say that the buffet restaurant itself is very beautiful, everything is clean. It was even awkward to sit there in shorts or beach (clean, sand-free) shoes. There were places for snacks - snack bars, but we never ate there. Near the pools there are drinks for every taste. You can come pour it yourself, or ask to make a cocktail. Or just go for water or juice. Everything that is not in bottles, but in ordinary (glass/plastic) glasses is given free of charge. The minibar in the room in the refrigerator is free and replenished once a day.

Cleaning every day, everything is good, towels are changed.

Hotel area.
Everything is grandiose, there’s simply no other word for it. Palm to palm, flower to flower, no trash anywhere. Free entertainment: tennis (by appointment), children's water park, mini-golf, football field, basketball hoop. There is a rope park (we didn’t go, it might cost money), and many locations with swings for children. There is billiards, table football, table tennis - but it was for money and empty.
There are many shops on the territory of the hotel, not shops, but “civilian” ones. But also the prices, you understand)

Ocean and sunbed area.
The sun lounger area is divided by hotel (each hotel has a different color bracelet). The suites have nicer sunbeds; our hotel had blue standard sunbeds. Sometimes the workers kept track of who was lying where, came up and asked to go to their beds. And sometimes not. There was no anger/pressure from the hotel workers, but tourists sometimes got offended and said that they got lost and didn’t understand where they were.
The ocean upset me the most.
Our trip began on the Caribbean coast and ended on the Atlantic. And now the whole ocean was covered in algae. We are not talking about two meters near the shore, we are talking about algae that instead of people and together with people swam on the waves. To my surprise, there were always a lot of people in the ocean. And to my disappointment, there were simply an incredible number of people on the beach. It was uncomfortable, especially compared to the Caribbean side, where, moving to the right or left along the shore, you simply found yourself practically alone, without people, and even in clear blue water. In the photo I tried to capture all the “beauty” of the ocean with algae. The algae that lies on the shore is constantly removed, but for the overall picture, this does not really matter.

Regarding the weather, everything was great. It rained once, but it was also hot and the rain was light and lasted for five minutes. It doesn’t matter whether there are clouds or no clouds - it was always warm, hot in places and very comfortable.

About entertainment programs I can’t say anything, I didn’t go see them.

In the end, I would like to say about the strangeness of the hotel. Check-in at 15.00. We arrived early and were offered to check in (at 11 am, right away) for $40. But since the bracelets were put on right away, we decided that we could have lunch and swim anyway, so we refused, and the time until three flew by.
But there is a big BUT. Until you are checked into a room and given a card with an ID + room number written on it, Wi-Fi on your devices will NOT work. And yes, free Wi-Fi is only in the hotel lobby. When renting out a room, Wi-Fi is also immediately cut off. Inconvenient, but tolerable for those who are not very dependent)

There were mosquitoes in the evening. But we didn’t see people bitten from head to toe or covered in spots.

We had Honeymoon, and they gave us gifts in the form of a handbag, a thermal mug with the hotel logo. We also decorated the doors with ribbon and balloons, and the bed with petals. And they put champagne and chocolates in the room. It was nice)

The room has a free safe that fits a 15" laptop.

We didn’t leave the hotel grounds, we just checked out, and we didn’t see any shops nearby where we could buy fruit to take with us. They met already far from the hotel, where I would not recommend going on my own (about 2 km from the hotel).

I recommend the hotel for the food, area and entertainment. I don’t know how it is in other months, but in early November the ocean can ruin your mood for relaxation, and for those who like to swim, the vacation itself. To the right and left of the hotel along the shore, there were algae and a crowd too.

Among the lush tropical garden, enchanting with its unique exotic beauty, the Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro 5* hotel complex is located, which invites you to spend a wonderful holiday on an all-inclusive basis. This is a wonderful place for traveling with the whole family, because there is a special club for children, which will not only occupy the leisure time of young guests, but will also give them a festive mood! On the private beach you can actively engage in diving, exploring the mysterious underwater world. The amphitheater hosts daily folklore performances that will reveal the peculiarities of the culture of the Dominican Republic. The hotel's restaurants offer flavorful Italian, Spanish, Asian and regional cuisine. The pool bar is a particularly pleasant place to spend your evening time, enjoying an original cocktail and a live music concert! Relaxing atmosphere, snow-white beach, the turquoise waters of the ocean will allow vacationing guests to plunge into all the delights of a beach holiday.

At the Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro hotel in the resort of Punta Cana, people usually relax with friends, alone, or with family. The most popular months: November, January, October. The food, service and accommodation are rated very well.
