Everyone who knows about its existence has probably dreamed of taking a photo in it, because photographs from there look incredibly cool. Let me show you how things really are there.
1. The Marina Bay Sands hotel complex is perhaps the most recognizable building in Singapore today - not least because it stands apart from other tall buildings in the city. It is difficult to call the building, which resembles the Roman numeral III in shape and a skyscraper, due to such a strange appearance.
2. Three towers, each 55 floors high, are connected at the top by one healthy roof in the shape of either a surfboard or an ironing board. This is where our pool is located at the top. In addition, at the top there are several observation decks, restaurants, and a nightclub. But the pool is unique in that only hotel guests are allowed into it. Everything else can be seen by an outside guest, provided that he is willing to pay.
3. This miracle of the modern world was built in 2010. They write on the Internet that the towers are connected to the roof with a special fastening that allows them to move in different directions by 50 cm. But you can read these boring technical details yourself without me.
Hotel rooms start at $300 per night, and with all taxes and extras it comes out to $350. In previous visits to Singapore, I was simply not ready to pay that kind of money for access to the pool. But this time I only have two nights, and I decided to hang out, and at the same time see if everything there is really as cool as the photographs show.
From the inside, the Marina Bay Sands tower looks impressive - the first six floors of the complex are a connected atrium. Huge bright modern space. But the rooms here are nothing special. For example, they are far away.
4. To get to the pool you need to take the elevator to the roof. There, entrance to the water treatment area is strictly based on room cards. There is probably some way to penetrate left-wing people, but it will not be easy. Everyone comes in dressing gowns, and I, being inexperienced in swimming pool matters, came there in a shirt for some reason.
Okay, these are all little things too. Here is the main picture of the pool. People at the side, looking at the city from a great height. It seems that there is nothing between the edge of the water and the abyss. It's breathtaking.
5. The view from the side of the pool is certainly very impressive. Below you opens the entire Marina Bay (let's not forget that it is artificial), and the skyscrapers of downtown.
6. The pool is divided into three parts. Along its entire length there are three rows of sun loungers. At first it seems that this is somehow too many sun loungers, but then it turns out that it’s just right.

10. But let's get back to the photographs. The main goal of the vast majority of visitors is to take cool photos. Of course, I am no exception here. Floundering in chlorinated water with crowds of people is still a pleasure, but taking a photo of a “man at the edge of the water above the city” is essentially what we all paid so dearly for.
11. The funniest thing is to watch how people carefully go into the water with what they are going to take pictures with. I have never seen so many cameras raised in the air before. Everyone is trying very hard not to splash anything. Probably when a platoon of soldiers fords a river, they carry guns over their heads.
12. Since the hotel is not cheap, the people here are wealthy. Probably, if you have a trained eye, you can see the most expensive amateur photographic equipment here. They shoot with anything - there are DSLRs, for example.

It is possible that the fashion for selfies will soon pass, and we We will say with a bit of shame to our children, “Well, yes... There was such a time, then everyone did it that way...”
17. Having photographed a thousand selfies, tourists immediately sit down to select those that “came out better.” There is no time to even disconnect the selfie. And, as I understand it, they immediately upload everything to Facebook.

I must say that in our elevator there was an extremely ridiculous picture - there was one man in a suit, and a dozen Japanese in bathrobes. I think he was not very comfortable in this crush.
28. To really see the pool deserted, you need to go there before it opens, at six in the morning. Exactly at six, when the rescuers are still stretching the tracks.
